Let's Flamingle for a Cure Host to the annual summer event in Central Ohio: Let's Flamingle for Cure! The hallmark of Rett syndrome is near constant repetitive hand movements while awake.

We raise funds for treatments for Rett syndrome and empowerment for families off loved ones with Rett syndrome. Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder that affects 1 in 10,000 females (and even more rarely in males) and begins to display itself in missed milestones or regression at 6-18 months. Rett syndrome leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of life: ability

to speak, walk, eat and breathe easily. They may struggle to sleep, suffer from seizures and Cortical Visual Impairment, among other issues. Cognitive assessment in children with Rett syndrome is complicated, but we know that they understand far more than they can communicate to us, evidenced by their bright and attentive eyes, and their ability to express a wide spectrum of moods and emotions. We want to raise awareness of this terrible disorder and show the capabilities of our extraordinary Rett Warriors. DM us to feature your daughter or son!

Our hearts are so full, and we are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support our Rett Warriors received at Flamingle this year!

The word to describe this year is Special. Instead of focusing our energy on raffles, auctions and just general event coordination, we were able to soak in the day. To hug our wonderful friends and family and to have real conversations. To spend time with the other Rett families and make stronger connections. And to be with our girls. In the 8 years since Flamingle started, I have never gotten to spend this much time with our girl and experience Flamingle through her eyes. I was in awe with the love that was showered over her and all of our girls. So very special.

Thank you to everyone that came out and showed their support from afar. Life with Rett can be lonely and isolating, and having these special moments to hold on to in those dark times means more than we’ll ever be able to express.
