One of the screenplays we're developing from the novel, MURDER MADE CASUAL, has all the unsolved mystery true crime fans love: a beautiful, unidentified victim struck down in her prime, battling pathologists, nervous, powerful local officials with secrets to hide during Prohibition, and an unknown killer who got away with it.

It all began with an old newspaper article I found. An unidentified, beautiful young woman was murdered in 1928 and stuffed in a roadside culvert at the intersection of Town Hall Rd. and the Williams Bay Rd. south of Elkhorn. It would eventually become Hwy 67.

In what would become a national news story in the era of the public's insatiable desire for true crime stories (a revived desire with the explosion of true crime podcasts), the identities of the "Culvert Girl" and her killer remain unknown nearly a century later.

Since no one knows the details leading up to her murder (well, I guess, the killer would), I used the facts of this incident to spin a thrilling historical fiction mystery around it. Finding themselves neck-deep in a conspiracy, 2 secret agents dodge killers while balancing their relationship with sarcastic banter. If you've ever seen the Thin Man movies, those were my inspirations for Charlie and Gretchen.

Set in various locations around Delavan, including Lake Lawn Resort, the Frank Lloyd Wright mansion Penwern, as well as in New York and Washington, D.C., the first entry in the Murder Made series (a series with more real-life unsolved local murders) is sure to please on the page and on the screen. I'm incredibly grateful to all who've bought my book, YOUR DAY TO DIE (available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle). For those who left a review on Amazon, thank you for those great reviews; they really mean a lot! If you've bought the book but haven't left a review, please do. It helps with the Amazon search algorithm. The more reviews, the better the placement and exposure. The more interest, well, that's when Hollywood comes calling.

If you haven't bought the book, I would greatly appreciate it, as it makes for the perfect summer read. Mystery, exciting action, a villain where you could rationalize her point of view and the 2 central questions: 1) Would you take the cash to know your death date, and 2) Could you make an impossibly difficult moral decision based on a theory that may or may not work?

Spoiler alert: I'm not a fan of downer endings, so none of my books have them. And I promise you won't be disappointed with this exciting one. I'm already thinking about the sequel!

This is just one of the projects we're working on at RSE. We appreciate all of our supporters, and we're looking forward to the next chapter.

We're excited to announce that we've signed a deal with BINGE Networks, a global film and TV distribution platform that has deals with over 100 of the major streaming services worldwide!

BINGE reaches over a BILLION subscribers with such streamers as HBO Max, Apple, Amazon, Paramount, Discovery, etc. BINGE also works with airlines for that in-flight movie! VISIONS OF HER has won international film festival awards, and now, Delavan, WI, will be showcased to an even bigger audience.

With several projects in development, including the film "Your Day to Die" this kind of exposure to worldwide audiences can't be understated!

Mark and I would like to thank the cast and crew who made it happen. It was fun being on the set with you, and your hard work is much appreciated.

Additionally, we'd like to thank: Lake Lawn Resort, Visit Delavan, Mayor Ryan Schroeder and the City of Delavan Police and Street Departments, the Delavan Downtown Business Association, the Town of Delavan-Friends of the Park, Kunes Family Foundation, Beall's Jewelers, Wishing Star Theater, Delavan-Darien High School, Ol' Wisco, Reed's Marine, and Christ Episcopal Church.
