The Great Hiwassee River Raft Race Beginning in 1978, The Great Hiwassee River Raft Race was an Ocoee District and Cherokee Area Council tradition.

Held each August on the scenic Hiwassee River in Delano, TN, this exciting event was a Scouting "must do" for almost 50 years.

And just like that... 46 years of the finest examples of Scout skill, ingenuity, and perseverance is for the history books. From community members to Scout leaders to Scout Life Magazine... we'd like to thank everyone who has participated in and loved this event for 46 years. The most special thanks would have to go to the Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park staff, Hiwassee Outfitters, and Webbs Store who put up with our crazy shenanigans that one weekend every year.
