This week, we recognized Lamar, aka Pete, for achieving his Paul Harris +2 status.

To be recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow, a person must give $1,000 to the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary. The Foundation helps provide funding for life changing projects around the world in areas such as promoting peace, providing clean water, supporting education, protecting the environment, growing economies, fighting disease, and saving women and children.

Congratulations, Pete! Thank you for making a difference not just here in our community, but globally!

What a special night celebrating the impact of the 2025–2026 Rotary Grant Giving program.

Because of the generosity of our dedicated Rotarians, sponsors, and event attendees, we were able to support incredible organizations that are doing meaningful work throughout our community. These grants will help provide healthcare for the uninsured, create scholarship opportunities, expand educational resources for students of all ages, support foster families, protect the arts, restore the St. Johns River, provide mobility assistance dogs, and honor our local history.

Each organization represents hope, service, and a commitment to building a stronger future for those around us. It was an inspiring evening filled with wonderful people, powerful missions, and the reminder that when a community comes together, great things happen.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this celebration possible. The future is brighter because of the work being done today.

This weekend, high school students from all over District 6970 will be convening at Stetson University for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). RYLA gives incoming high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to develop leadership skills, make new friends, learn the power of Rotary, and most importantly, learn, grow and have fun!

Our club is proud to sponsor a student each year. This year, representing for the Grillmasters is Isobel Cloudman.

The Grillmasters had a fun Friday night at the annual Touch A Truck event hosted by the City of DeLand, FL. This family-friendly event celebrates Public Works Appreciation Week and gives attendees the opportunity to touch, see and interact with heavy duty equipment that keeps our city running and safe.

We are excited to welcome Ricky Ray as our guest speaker tonight. Ricky is the Director of Athletics for Stetson Athletics / Stetson University. Ricky started at Stetson in May of 2024. Under his leaderships, several updates and renovations have taken place at the Edmunds Center, Wilson Athletic Center, and Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex. In addition to improving athletic facilities, he has recruited new coached and staff, along with implemented a new ticketing system.

We are excited to hear from Ricky about his vision for the Hatters going forward.

The third week in May is National Public Works Week. This annual observance celebrates public works employees across the Country that build, maintain and keep our communities running.

Here is DeLand, we have an amazing Public Works Team! Each day, they are out before the sun making sure our City is beautiful, they are first out after storms for clean up, they keep our water running, and make sure our infrastructure is in top shape.

The Grillmasters were honored to cook for the hardworking City of DeLand, FL Public Works employees today during their lunch and learn. Thank-you for all that you do for the City!
