Calling a Few Good Men Calling a Few Good Men is a call to action to encourage the men of our society to take an active role in the lives of boys moving towards manhood.

I am thankful that I was raised by parents who believed in the future of my success. But I remain humble knowing that I have a really good dad in my life, who always put his family and this nation first. I am equally humble knowing that I have had the opportunity to raise a young man. I can only hope, that together, we can bring the same experiences to generations to come by pouring into and supporting our men and providing a pathway of engagement, encouragement and love. These role models will not be forgotten, but will be seen in the eyes of future men across the globe.

He’s helping young Black boys fall in love with reading!

Former teacher Alvin Irby founded Barbershop Books, a program that places books in barbershops to encourage young Black boys to read in spaces that already feel familiar.

The idea came to him while teaching first grade in the Bronx, and it has grown into a movement rooted in literacy, representation, and community.
