Happy Black History Month🖤
Today we will be talking about Marsha P. Johnson.
Marsha P. Johnson was a Transgender women and apart of the LGBTQ+ liberation activists. She left her home right after highschool with only $15 and a one way ticket to NYC. During her time in NYC she started out waiting tables. When she finally met some people that were apart of the gay community she was finally able to free herself from her past and become who we all know of today which is a strong powerful activist women! She happen to be one of the most significant people in the Stonewall uprising and Gay Rights Movement. Whenever there was a raid against Stonewall Johnson was always there protesting and using her powerful voice. She helped create the Street Transgender Action Revolutionaries with Sylvia Rivera this is an organization that provides help and housing to the homeless s*x workers + q***r youth. Johnson always partnered up with the AIDS Coalition organization. The work Johnson had done to protect and fight for her fellow LGBTQ+ made her reconaziable for the whole movement during that time and even current time. She is an important face for this community. She dedicated her soul to help those in the community become free of the hate she had received.
