The Scouts BSA program of Scouting America serves young people age 11-17. It is a game with a purpose - to teach these young people to make moral and ethical decisions throughout their lives based on the principles of the Scout Oath and Law. We each have a duty to ourselves, our families, our communities, and our nation - to do our best. We are Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent. Every youth should have the chance to live these values, and to have fun in the outdoors learning how. The annual Scouting for Food campaign collects non-perishable items and provides much-needed resources to help fight hunger in our communities. One out of five children and one out of every twelve households with seniors go hungry in New Jersey and an estimated 900,000 people rely on food banks just to survive.

Scouts from Troop 19 and Pack 19 will be distributing door hangers with information on the campaign this Saturday, November 11th. We ask that you collect unexpired, shelf-stable food items (but no glass containers, please), and leave them on your porch the following Saturday, November 18th, by 9:00 AM. The Scouts will collect your generous donations and deliver them to the Meals of Love ministry at Beverly United Methodist Church and the food pantry at Beverly Presbyterian Church. These ministries do great work in our community, and our Scouts are proud to support them.

Troop 19 is proud to announce that Jacob Rodriguez earned the rank of Eagle Scout today! Jake completed his service project by building a community vegetable garden in Riverside, and has been active in our troop for the past six years. In addition to earning the rank of Eagle, Jake also completed 37 merit badges during his Scouts BSA journey. Well done, Jake!
