Big news, Del Rio! In addition to our bimonthly free microchip clinics, Border Animal Mission is excited to announce that we are now offering FREE VACCINES to help keep your furry family members safe & healthy!

Join us for a 100% FREE Microchip & Vaccination Clinic!

🛡️ What We're Offering:
FREE Microchipping: Includes implementation and lifetime registration through Fi Nano—with zero hidden costs or fees to update your contact information in the future! Microchipping is the single most effective way to ensure lost pets make it back home, keeping them safe and out of overcrowded local animal shelters.
FREE Vaccinations: DAPPv vaccines for dogs and HCP vaccines for cats. Vaccinating your pets is critical—it protects them against deadly, highly contagious diseases like Parvovirus, Distemper, and Panleukopenia, giving them the long, healthy life they deserve.

🚨 Important Event Guidelines:
To ensure a safe and smooth environment for everyone:
🐕 Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
🐈 Cats must arrive in a secure carrier.
⚠️ We cannot accommodate aggressive pets. Please muzzle your pet if you anticipate any safety or reactivity concerns around other animals or people.

FeLV/FIV Cats Deserve to Live and Be Loved! 🐾💙

Today is a bittersweet and wonderful day for the BAM Fam! We sent off our foster FeLV cat, Cappy, and our foster FIV cat, Herman, on transport to Austin Pets Alive! 🚐✨ Both of these sweet cats came to us from City of Del Rio Animal Services, and they are finally on their way to the bright futures they’ve always deserved.

We want to take a moment to bust a heartbreaking myth: A positive FeLV or FIV diagnosis does NOT equal an instant death sentence.

If you or someone you know is unfamiliar with these diagnoses, here is what you need to know:
-As long as these cats are kept safely indoors, loved, and given proper veterinary care, they can live fulfilling lives just like any other cat!
-FeLV is primarily spread through close contact like mutual grooming or sharing saliva. Because of this, FeLV-positive cats should either be the only cat in the home or live with other FeLV-positive feline friends. In fact, people who already share their homes with an FeLV-positive cat often look to rescues specifically to adopt an FeLV-positive buddy so their cat has a companion!
-FIV is harder to transmit and is typically passed through deep puncture wounds from aggressive fighting or through mating. Because friendly house cats don't engage in deep bite fights, FIV-positive cats can safely live in homes with negative cats, as long as everyone is spayed/neutered and gets along peacefully!
-Both FeLV and FIV kitties have so much affection to give and make incredible, loyal companions.

We cannot thank Austin Pets Alive! enough for welcoming Herman and Cappy into their dedicated FIV and FeLV programs. Because of rescues like APA, these special cats get a true chance to find the loving homes they’ve been waiting for.

Help us help them!! Please consider opening your heart and home. Fostering is temporary, but the life you save is forever. Most kittens in BAM's care are usually sent off on the rescue plane within a month of entering foster care!

What BAM provides: Food, crate, supplies, and all medical care.

What they need from you: A safe, temporary landing spot and some love!

We are blown away by the response to the upcoming BAM/HPAB free spay/neuter clinic. We completely understand that the need in Del Rio is massive! Because of your enthusiasm, all slots are now completely full. Here is where things stand:

-Waitlist: We are working through a waitlist for those who emailed prior to this announcement. At this time, we are not taking any new appointment requests.

-Pending Confirmations: If you received a date and time, please reply to confirm immediately, or we will need to give your spot to the waitlist.

-Confirmed: If you received your confirmation email containing surgery info and location, you are all set!

💛 Please be patient with our schedulers! We are volunteers working around the clock to pull this off for our community's pets. Thank you all for your patience, kindness, and support! 🐾

Wondering where our rescue animals end up once they head north? 🐾

At BAM, transparency is everything! We keep our foster families and BAM Fam updated every step of the way—from wheels down on the transport plane to the moment they settle into their receiving adoption rescue, and finally, their forever homes. Adopters even stay in touch with our fosters for years down the road. 💙

Take sweet Misha, for example! Misha was pulled right from City of Del Rio Animal Services, spent time being fully vetted and showered with love by one of our incredible BAM fosters, and recently caught a Wings of Rescue flight up to Happily Ever After Rescue, Inc. to start the next chapter of her life. Thank you so much to H.E.A.R. for finding her the perfect family!
