Happy Water Day!

Today is Water Day at the Capitol hosted by Colorado Water Congress! Keep It Colorado joined Rio Grande Headwaters Land Trust to share about our work protecting Colorado's lands and waters. From educating children about water to growing low-water rye, Coloradans are working together to solve some of our toughest water challenges. To cap it all off, Governor Polis read a proclamation that designates March 11 as Water Day! Thanks to Colorado Water Congress and all of the other partners who participated!

We are so excited to be leading this yearlong series at the Trade and Post here in Del Norte. We hope to build understanding, inspire stewardship, and strengthen community connections through monthly events rooted in the natural resources of the San Luis Valley.

Join us in our first Sip N Science event on January 23rd where we will be discussing snowpack and how that affects the lifestyle in the San Luis Valley! Come join us for a drink (non-alcoholic options available) and learn more about our natural resources! Doors open at 6pm. Conversation starts at 6:30.

Today is , and we’re reflecting on what it means to care for a place as unique as the San Luis Valley.

Every day, we meet people whose stories remind us why this work matters. Families who have cared for the same land for generations. Farmers adapting to new realities. Wetlands full of life because someone chose to protect them. Neighbors who show up for each other when things get tough.

We walk landscapes shaped by water, wind, and history. We listen to landowners talk about what it means to keep a ranch going. We see cranes returning to protected habitat. We feel how rare it is to have places that still look and feel like home.
