Rhythms on the Rio Music Festival

One of our favorite things about Rhythms is watching generations experience it together.

While the bands play, you’ll find giant puppets roaming the grounds, families marching in the parade, kids making flags, faces getting painted, hula hoop contests, songs being shared, and future performers stepping up at the Kids Talent Show.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Soon enough, we’ll be waking up in camp, swapping stories with neighbors, casting a line into the Rio Grande, chasing our favorite bands across the festival grounds, and watching the mountains turn gold at sunset.

We’re getting close.

How much sound can two people make? Quite a bit, actually.

Cousin Curtiss is a two-man wall of sound, blending explosive acoustic rhythms, searing guitar work, harmonica, and foot percussion into a show that's raw, soulful, and relentlessly energetic. The kind of set where you stop for a song and somehow end up staying for the whole thing.

We're bringing them to Del Norte for TWO sets this summer.

Most of us can trace our love of music back to someone.

A parent who played records around the house. A teacher who encouraged us. A friend who handed us an instrument. Someone who opened the door and helped us discover a lifelong passion.

Through the South Fork Music association, we're helping create more of those first musical moments. Every ticket helps provide free instruments and music lessons to kids throughout the San Luis Valley, giving more young people the chance to discover where music might take them.

One of our goals every year is simple: raise even more support for local music education than we did the year before.

Because every musician starts somewhere.
