So Fun and so Proud! A couple of days ago we ran into one of our graduate young mothers. Today she dropped by the office to get our advice. She has found a space for her own shop (duka) close to her home and childrens school. And she asked if we could come by and see it and give her any advice.

So we did!! It’s a great safe spot that also gets enough foot traffic so she can be visible and capture new clients. The fact that she wanted our advice was so sweet and she used her confidence and courage by asking if she could take a small loan to secure the space and pay us it all back within 3 months. Well wahoo and YES!

Love this so much, she is well on her way to become a beautifully strong business woman. We couldn’t be prouder.

I did tell her I hope I get to be one of her first customers. I have a cute dress in mind. told her I’ll be her first customer, I have a dress in mind!!

It was so good to see our LSF team out at our schools with our students. There is nothing like a whole bunch of smiling teens!

Our LSF teachers, Japheth and Irene are touching on making good choices, what Godly relationships look like and the dangers of early sexual experiences. Hard topics to address but here our youth have a safe place to ask any questions and get proper advice.

Our team did an amazing job and I am so grateful for a culture and education system that allows us to talk freely about intimate things that all youth should know. Unfortunately, in many cultures parents don’t talk to their children until it’s too late. We are grateful to have this precious time with them!!

Here are a couple of personal stories from today:

AMINA STORY

My name is Amina , I am 16 years old and a second form student. I had a habit of loving nice things, I was not worried about my parents income and I got involved in romantic relationships. That’s when my behavior started to change to become arrogant. I thank LSF for the lesson of self-awareness and setting goals, now I have realized myself, I have given up love affairs because I have known for a while that they still had relationships, my parents and teachers are happy with me, I have become a responsive, self-motivated and respectful young woman and I dream of becoming a doctor.

SUZANA STORY
My name is suzana living soul foundation, their studies have helped me, I was not very diligent in my studies, now I have realized that I have increased my effort, I set aside time to study and my progress is going well now and I am a favorite student at school for the teachers because I have started to get high marks. Thank you for helping us in our schools to realize ourselves and take new steps in life.

Praise the Lord!!

To fun: Loved watching Irene our team lead playing basketball (net ball) and Japheth and Juma play football (soccer) with our youth! These kids are naturals. Lots of bicycle kicks, flips and plenty of acting moments of being injured! Aside from a couple of skinned knees and a splinter or two, It was a hoot! . . .

Michael’s Story . . . “My name is Michael, a form two student at Mlole Secondary, I have been lucky to attend Saturday Youth Club program for this year.

Through LSF I have been able to defend the temptations that have come and these teachings have shaped me also to be obedient to my parents and my teachers at school. I have learned that God is good and wishes only good for me. I want to succeed in my life and through the teaching I have learned how to plan my future and how to pray for it. And, I make sure that I write my dreams and do self-evaluation to see if I am abiding to my plans, and in short I should preserve my values and dignity.

My parents are proud of whom I have become, obedient and hard worker at school. I’m thankful for the way the leaders follow up on my school performance and encourage and congratulate my performance. This motivates me to work hard so that I will do well in my school and in my life.” . . .

I am Sofia Godfrey Stephano; I’m a daughter who became pregnant when I was 16 years old. Life became so difficult, but the Living Soul Foundation was able to take me in and help me. I miss many things from my time at LSF. I miss my teachers and the other girls whom we lived with. I miss the LSF teachers whom cared for me, we had good relationships. And, I am grateful for the many things I learned. I learned how to interact with others well and I very much miss our bible studies and devotion time. I miss Mama Bryana and the love she and my teachers had for me and my life. But, I know for sure my Bible sessions helped me the most. It’s true, two weeks after I left the LSF center I grew deep fear, and it was the spiritual teachings that helped me a lot and I started to understand what was good and what is bad, for sure.

Also, the self-awareness and entrepreneurship lessons helped me a lot, and I learned how to be independent and how to live my life as a mother. When I left LSF foundation I moved to another region, Tabora, and started a small business, I sell baked goods and it is going really well and capital is increasing day by day.

I also thank God because I have been able to find the best husband who loves me and cares for my children, now I am married and mother of three children. I am grateful to God and Living Soul for their love and trainings. . . .
Wow, our girls are young women now and it’s brings joy to our hearts to hear and see how well they are doing! Again thank you for you love, care prayers and support. We all feel so blessed and thankful. Thank you for your prayers, blessing and love! . . .

So encouraged watching our staff address hard topics in ways that our young people can relate to. Irene and Japheth are here doing a drama of a business man with financial power approaching a teenage girl with charming words and eventually over time offering her a cell phone so she can call her friends. To her he seems kind and generous but he begins to pressure her for more and eventually she becomes a victim of his coercion.

And, while you may see laughter and giggles during the drama, this is a real story that was shared with us by the leaders in a school we teach in and they asked us if we could help address it. So we discussed how there are people with the wrong motives and how we need to be keen observers, hold on to our values and guard ourselves from these predators.

My name is Pietha Sosthenes Ntamilo, I am a mother of Lovenes, a baby I delivered on 02/05/2018 while at Living Soul Foundation center. I joined Living Soul Foundation program as a victim of early pregnancy as I had to drop out of school when I was just a form two student after I became pregnant caused by my fellow student. I lost all my hope for having a bright future and I regretted what had happened to me. But, I am glad I met Living Soul Foundation team. While living at LSF I was privileged to learn sewing and entrepreneurship skills, the skills which are helping me to earn something for my daily life and my child.
After leaving Living Soul Foundation I moved to Dar es Salaam, and in Dar es Salaam I work as a tailor. This has enabled me to rent my own room and support my child and family. Also I was welcomed and accepted back to my family. Thanks to Living Soul Foundation I am using the knowledge and skills I received while at the center, to run and support my life. I am so grateful. . . .
We are over the moon with our girls stories. We will be sharing them all with you!! Thank YOU for all your love, support and prayers. And thank you for celebrating with us!! . . .

We were encouraged and blessed by our friend Dr. Iris who runs a hospital in a remote area. Dr. Iris has been such an incredible champion for our program and has opened up opportunities in her district for us to teach in some private schools. And, this led to a weeklong training that we hosted for two of her coworkers. It was such a joy to provide them with all our curriculum, from God's perspective, that they can now teach and share on their own. Our team worked hard and decided their final exam would be teaching our Saturday youth club. They all did a great job and we made sure we shared some of our favorite sites and historic monuments with them. . .
