Also at the meeting tomorrow evening at 6pm, we will be looking for volunteers to go to the 137th SOW at Will Rogers Saturday June 6th at 2pm for a photo opp with two OHS recipients. These pictures will accompany the article in August's national VFW magazine. Post 9969 shirts required. More to discuss at the meeting.

At the meeting this Thursday at 6pm (1800 hours) Post 9969 will be presenting Camden Bruce the Post level Scout of the Year certificate. He is also the State Scout of the Year award winner. Hoping for maximum attendance so spread the word and thanks.

ATTENTION: The Post is in serious need of a volunteer or volunteers to help in the kitchen during the shuffleboard tournament on June 26th and 27th from 1500 to 2100 (3-9pm). One person is needed for two nights or two volunteers for one night each. No cooking experience needed. Please help support the Post during it’s main money-making event of the year. Special thanks to the flag auditing/bundling team on May 22nd, and all 64 volunteers that showed May 23rd to put out nearly 5,000 flags on Veteran's graves at Sunnylane Cemetery. 16 organizations were represented: Girl Scout Troops 5178, 7317 and 448, Del City High School's Navy Jr. ROTC, Air Force Association, Destiny Christian School, 507th ARW, 423rd SCMS, American Legion, VFW, Forty and Eight, Catholic War Veterans, MWC Elks Lodge, MWC Knights of Columbus, Guard Dogs M.C. and Sons of American Legion. And we can't forget Representative Andy Fugate. Thanks to all for getting the flags placed in record time, thank you Dignity Memorial for the coffee and bottled water, and thank you VFW Commander Gary Grantham for the donuts. Flag retrieval is Saturday May 30th at 8am :)

Due to scheduling conflicts the next two months, Post 73 and Post 9969 will share the same meeting nights in June and July. On Thursday June 4th Post 9969 will meet at 6pm and Post 73 will meet at 7pm. On Thursday July 9th, Post 9969 will meet at 6pm and Post 73 at 7pm. Spread the word.
