Since its inception, the chapter has continuously grown and continues to work hard to uphold our founding principals of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service. IUS has served and continues to serve the DeKalb and Rockford communities through implementing various national and local initiatives. The chapter has sponsored teen moms and their children who receive services through the Winnebago County Hea
lth Department. IUS also partners with Hope Haven, the DeKalb Public Library, Family Service Agency, and Big Brothers Big Sisters to service the varying needs of the DeKalb community. Every year since the birth of the chapter, IUS members have consistently dedicated themselves to the March of Dimes, March for Babies event. IUS members assist in the planning of the event, volunteer , march and have consistently reached yearly fundraising goals. For the past 8 years, Iota Upsilon Sigma, has done Operation Big Book Bag in both the DeKalb and Rockford Communities. We are proud to have provided school supplies to more than 1,000 children in the 2 communities. Because of its outstanding work in the community, the chapter has received numerous awards from the Central Region of Sigma Gamma Rho. Iota Upsilon Sigma takes great pride in being the advising chapter to Zeta Nu Chapter at Northern Illinois University. We uphold, mentor, and support our undergraduate sorors. And we are very proud of our sorors and the work they do on the campus of NIU.
