Greetings, all from Lady Honnor la Riote and Baroness Mihri (Christina Melanson King), event stewards for this year's Ragnarok Rampage.
As we recover our bodies and minds from the weekend, we are filled with gratitude for so many people and groups of people who helped make this event a success.
First, to our Barony and our Barons, Akiyama Kazuhiko and Akiyamna Hiroaki (Sata Prescott and DV Demoni for backing our event proposal and putting their faith in us to run our Barony's annual summer event. Without your support and belief in our abilities we would not have been able to approach this year's event with the confidence needed to put it all together.
To our feast steward, Lady Karayil Nakkan Cani (Sierra Pinkerton), you created for our guests a delightful meal that will be remembered for quite some time to come. We heard nothing but good things and as a first-time feast steward, we have been amazed by your ability to create a satisfying and delectable dining experience, but your preparational and organizational skills as well. We know you've already posted your note of gratitude to everyone who helped in the kitchen, on the grill, in serving the feast, and in cleaning up, and we wish to echo those thoughts of gratitude.
To our marshals: Sergeant Alexicrtaus Taifalus (Hunter Joseph) on the armored list, Magister Roland de Sullane (Dan Roland Smith) on the rapier field, Forrester AEhtelwulf of Dover on the archery range, Captain Arnora in Skarpa with combat archery and Baron Gareth Thorne on the thrown weapons range. Between all of the activities happening on the various martial lists, there was much to participate in, witness and enjoy.
To our previous A&S champion who ran this year's A&S competition, Magnus Whitehair (Matt Pudnos), your organizational skills, creativity of challenges, and dedication to the wider world of arts and sciences helped to bring out the creative best in our participants. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support of all artisans, no matter the medium.
Additionally in the realm of arts and sciences, we thank Countess Jalida al-Hasanah (Wendy Pastrick) for coordinating so many classes all over site and for making sure our teachers had what they needed at all times. Also special thanks go out to Magister Hilla Stormbringer for running an excellent bardic competition in the afternoon.
We would like to specifically thank Dame Nicolaa Halden (Nora London) for stepping up to the task of assuring Their Majesties were well taken care of throughout their time with us. You did so much to provide shelter, food, and comfort throughout the day and in such a way that we knew Their Majesties were in excellent hands.
Two more unsung heroes of the weekend are THL Gillian Durham and Baroness Kathryn von Trier (Lova Jaquet Sutton) who not only provided the sack lunches on Saturday, but also set up, ran, and packed up what was left from the silent auction and Loki's Yard Sale. That annual task is Herculean yet always seems to run smoothly thanks to your dedication.
There were so many members of our Barony who stepped up to help with various tasks, such as keeping the martial areas stocked with snacks and water, greeting newcomers, working gate, coordinating our volunteers and merchants, and heralding around the site and in court. The Our setup crew on Friday was robust, thanks to more hands than ever showing up early to help out. Tear-down on Sunday also went smoothly with the assistance of dedicated members of the Barony staying until the last box was loaded up to be stored away for next year.
Finally, we were asked several times throughout the weekend who or what we had to sacrifice to the weather deities in order to secure the favorable temperatures, sunshine, breezes, and lack of rain. To that we can only say that we shall take that information to our graves, but we have no regrets.
One last big thank you before we close out this thing. To Bien-Venue la Riote (Zéphirine Moon Garden), you know why.
