Dekalb Township is leading an initiative to plant 250 Trees for Tomorrow. This will be going on in waves this spring, fall, and spring 2027. The best way to get involved is to call the township and volunteer for community tree plantings (some are coming up soon). Although the spring deadline has passed for ordering trees, there will be future chances for reaidents to request free trees to plant within the township - pawpaw happens to be one of the species that will be offered.
We have requested some for planting in the area and will schedule some work days to plant them once the trees arrive soon. Check out the program and get involved!
Today is world health day and DeKalb Township is working to make our community healthier by growing our existing tree canopy. Trees are essential for clean air, sun protection and soil conversation.
Won't you join us as we work to enhance the health and vitality of our community through a community tree planting on April 21st? Volunteers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate.
To sign up, contact the DeKalb Township at 815-758-8282.
