👑Passing the Crown👑

Laney’s story of confidence in her own words:

Being crowned Miss DeFuniak Springs was more than just a title, it was the beginning of a journey that helped shape the woman I am today. When I first stepped into that role, I never could have imagined how much it would teach me about confidence, leadership, and, most importantly, being unapologetically myself.
Being Miss DeFuniak Springs gave me a platform, but it also gave me a voice. It pushed me outside of my comfort zone and taught me how to walk into a room with confidence, speak with purpose, and embrace the qualities that make me unique. I learned that being confident doesn’t mean being perfect, it means knowing who you are and being proud of the woman you are becoming.

That confidence followed me into every area of my life. I carried it with me to Troy University, where I challenged myself academically and graduated a year early with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in General Business, Marketing, and Event Management.

Today, I am proud to work full-time for Troy University as the Coordinator of Campus Experiences, a role that allows me to combine my passions for people, events, leadership, and creating meaningful experiences for others. It is incredibly rewarding to know that the young woman who once stood on a stage representing her hometown is now building a career and creating opportunities for others.
And my journey is far from over. In October, I will continue my education by beginning my master’s degree, taking another step toward the future I have envisioned for myself.
When I look back, I realize that becoming Miss DeFuniak Springs didn’t simply give me a crown. It gave me confidence. It gave me courage. It gave me a reason to believe in myself and the freedom to truly be me.
The crown may have been the beginning, but the woman I became because of it is my greatest accomplishment.

Confidence doesn’t end with one conversation, one kit, or one moment.

Elevated YOU is growing in a new way! I am placing books centered around confidence, growth mindset, courage, and believing in yourself into Little Libraries throughout our community! 📚📖

My hope is that a girl reaches for a book and finds more than a story—she finds a reminder that mistakes help us grow, and she has all the tools to be confident! 💜

Because sometimes the right words find us at exactly the right moment!

July reminded me exactly why Elevated YOU was created! 💝

As I enter into the first weeks of August, I am so thankful for the opportunities given and impact made in July!

I had the privilege of connecting with the Lady Warriors Volleyball team and campers at the Herricane camp! I handed out 42 Confidence Kits to young women boldly stepping into new experiences!

One of the most impactful moments came at Herricane Camp, where I wrote a personalized note for each girl. I hoped to encourage them—but they ended up encouraging me just as much. Their honesty, vulnerability, and kindness was a powerful reminder that confidence grows when we feel seen, valued, and supported!💜

Thank you for so much support and love throughout this journey! None of these amazing moments would be possible without you!

🎊CONFIDENT YOU🎊

Sometimes, the key to finding your own Confidence is the courage to try something new! This month, we are celebrating a young woman who did just that!

Adrian Sheehan has become an amazing demonstration of Confidence. You can find her anywhere from the clay of a softball field, to under stadium lights shaking her pom poms, or even taste testing ice cream flavors at her favorite place! 🍦🥎📣

For her first year of middle school, she tried out for the Walton Middle School Cheerleading team. She could have let the fear of the unknown stop her from trying, but she embraced the opportunity! She took a leap of faith, and she soared. She has officially made the team, and she is bringing her Confidence to the field!

Confidence isn't about being perfect, it's being willing to try in the first place!

WE MADE OUR GOAL!

50 girls will receive their very own Confidence Kit, and I honestly can’t put into words how grateful I am.

When I started Elevated YOU, I wanted girls to know that confidence isn’t about being the loudest person in the room or having everything figured out. It’s about believing that who you are and what you have to offer matters.

Watching this community get behind that message has meant so much to me. Every donation, item purchased, post shared, and encouraging message reminded me that people believe in these girls too.

I may have set the goal of 50, but our community is the reason we reached it.

The part I’m most excited about is knowing that soon I’ll get to put these kits into the hands of 50 girls and remind each one, even in a small way, to believe in herself.

Thank you for believing in Elevated YOU, supporting me, and helping me turn an idea that means so much to my heart into something I can see making an impact!

We are now in the single digits! Only 6 girls away from achieving our goal🙌❤️

This is what community looks like. 💗

Every day, another box arrives. Another donation comes in. Another message of encouragement reminds me just how many people believe in what Elevated YOU is trying to do.

And today, we’re at 39 of 50 girls supported. 🎉

Seeing these shipments arrive has been one of the best parts because these aren’t just boxes of items anymore. They’re becoming Confidence Kits that will be placed into the hands of girls right here in our community.

I am so thankful. For the people who have donated. For the people who have shared. For the people who have encouraged me. And for everyone who has helped turn an idea into something real. 💕

Our first set of items came in all thanks to YOU!!!

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, 37 of our 50 girls have now been supported! That means we only have 13 more girls to go before we reach our goal! ✨

I am so grateful for every person who has donated, shared, encouraged, and believed in what Elevated YOU is working to accomplish. Every contribution represents a young girl who will be reminded that she is seen, supported, and confident in who she is.

Together with the Boys & Girls Club of DeFuniak Springs, we’re working toward supporting all 50 girls by August 3rd — and we are almost there!
