TODAY IS THE FINAL DAY for DHS seniors to apply for many great scholarship opportunities, including the Defiance City Schools Foundation scholarships pictured here. The deadline has been extended from March 15th to TODAY, March 31st, to make deadlines more uniform with the other Defiance City Schools common application scholarships. Yesterday evening, this group of amazing educators gathered to present their ideas for boosting morale, positive behavior, excitement, and enhanced learning of our K-12 students at Defiance City Schools. It was a pleasure to see so many of the friendly faces who put in the extra hours for our kids, returning year after year with innovative new ideas while representing their grades and departments as a whole. In addition, fresh and exciting plans from enthusiastic new teachers also filled the room. Given the tools they need to put their ideas in motion, their hands-on learning styles not only have the ability to fuel student excitement toward future, real-world careers but success on many levels as well.

One by one, these DCS heroes stood up and shared the numerous ways that community support has helped in the past and can continue to help in the future, as Defiance City Schools Foundation members and trustees listened. Because of such faithful support from community donors and past DCS alums, the Defiance City Schools Foundation was able to grant all of their carefully thought-out requests for supplemental materials, tools, and programs this year. With your help and recurrent support, they can continue to dream big and teach above and beyond the norm. THANK YOU to those who have contributed to the Defiance City Schools Foundation’s mission in any way. Know that you are making a difference!

Defiance City Schools Foundation president, Celena Frederick and Defiance Area Foundation director, Chris Yoder, were invited to give a report on the DCSF at the board of education meeting on 10/26/22. Watch to hear more about the foundation, last year's scholarship and teacher mini-grant award amounts, investments managed by the Defiance Area Foundation, and the names of the new honorary co-chairs for this year. Thank you to all who continue to support the foundation's vision. Your donations are what fund the mini-grants for Defiance City Schools teachers, grades K-12. The fall campaign will be kicking off soon, and we hope to have another great year. Stay tuned!
