We love getting to partner with groups like NJ Rise to be able to provide backpacks for the youth in the area!

We would like to recognize our friends from Essendant Charitable Foundation who generously donated a pallet full of backpacks to our Backpack Drive, as well as a $1,000 check to be used for stuffing them full of school supplies for our local youth! We were so excited to pick up these boxes full of colorful backpacks and we know that they'll be greatly appreciated by the children whose school year will be made a little brighter by them!

Last week some of our Merchandising team was able to give back to Compass House and support their local community!

Thanks to the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County Business Meets Community Program, we were able to have Alex Schmirl and his group from Essendant come and volunteer at our Shelter. They did an amazing job with landscaping and we are extremely thankful for their time and resources donated to making our Shelter look beautiful!

At Essendant we are committed to empowering our associates to make a meaningful difference in their communities. We were honored to be able to support the local community of Maui during our Horizons program this year. Associates, customers and suppliers were able to help make a difference by supporting the Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui. This group helps direct funds to abused and neglected children to help in their healing as well as help prevent child abuse. Our group was able to donate 100 backpacks filled with supplies along with a donation of $5,000 with support from the Essendant Charitable Foundation

Last week our Essendant Category Specialist and VOW team were joined by our supplier partner, P&G, in Orlando, Florida for a team meeting. Together as a team they were able to prepare 100 backpacks with school supplies to donate to A Gift For Teaching. Their donation allows students to have the materials they need to be engaged and learn in school!

We are excited to announce that the Essendant Charitable Foundation Board of Trustees has appointed Allison Wadhams as President of the Foundation. Allison has been involved with the Backpack Program for the last several years and is excited to take on this role. She looks forward to growing the Foundation’s footprint, supporting the causes that are important to associates, and continuing to make a difference in the lives of those in need as the mission of the Foundation.

Our thoughts are with the Nashville community as they recover from a devastating tornado that has taken at least 24 lives. The Foundation's Disaster Response Committee is making a gift to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to support the immediate recovery efforts as well as the long term impact from the tornado.

Essendant Charitable Foundation was founded in response to Hurricane Katrina, and its commitment to disaster response continues to be a key priority. Today, the Foundation announced two gifts to support relief efforts in Australia and Puerto Rico.

Essendant Charitable Foundation is making a gift to Save the Children to create child-friendly spaces to support displaced families in communities suffering from the trauma of the wildfires.

Essendant Charitable Foundation is making a gift to World Vision to support the long-term relief and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico following the earthquakes that began in December and continued into January. World Vision has already provided disaster relief items to the island that were put to immediate use, including protective clothing, paper products, and paper towels that were donated by Essendant and stored in Puerto Rico to allow for immediate response in a crisis. World Vision will continue providing support in the months ahead.

We are grateful to our charitable partners for their efforts to reach those in the most need.

Our Day of Giving has come to a close, but the good works continue! Yesterday, an FSC team participated in Cookies from the Heart, baking sweet treats at Ronald McDonald House for the families coping with their children's health challenges.
