Quick maintenance tip from Captain Carlos: replace the O-rings on your fuel fill caps every year if you can.
Florida sun and salt break those rubber seals down fast. Once they crack, rain and washdown water can work their way into your tank, and with ethanol fuel that's a recipe for trouble. A new O-ring and a dab of marine grease cost a few dollars. A fuel system repair costs a whole lot more.
Add it to your yearly checklist and share this with a buddy who owns a boat. 🔧⛽

Every fall, millions of mullet push down the Florida coast and everything with teeth follows.
Mullet Run Episode 1 is coming soon. We covered it from every angle: wading the beach, working the bridges and causeways, running the Intracoastal by boat, and drone footage showing just how big these schools get. Tarpon and blacktips crashing bait in the surf, filmed up close on chest cam.

🦀 Stone crab season opens Thursday, Oct. 15!

Quick rules before you drop traps:
- Season runs Oct. 15 – May 1
- Minimum claw size is 2 7/8 inches
- 1 gallon of claws per person or 2 gallons per vessel, whichever is less
- Up to 5 traps per person
- No claws from egg-bearing crabs

Don't forget: anyone 16+ needs the free online stone crab trap registration, even if you don't normally need a fishing license.

When the rain comes, the gates open, and the big snook eat. 🌧️🌊
This stretch of wet weather has the spillways pumping across South Florida. When that fresh water starts ripping, mullet, shad, and baitfish get flushed right through the current, and the biggest snook in the system stack up to feed. It's one of the oldest patterns in Florida snook fishing, and it still gets our heart going every time.

This one ate a big swimbait worked right through the whitewater. Heavy tackle, stout leader, and hang on tight, because these fish use that current to their advantage.
A lot of folks stay home on rainy days. Snook anglers know better. 👀

FISH ID CHALLENGE: Spanish or Cero?

Drop your answer in the comments before you scroll the photos!

Here's how to tell them apart:
✅ Spanish mackerel: gold oval spots, NO stripe. You'll usually find them in schools along the beaches, inlets and bridges.
✅ Cero mackerel: a bronze stripe running down the middle of the body, with spots above and below it. The pectoral fin also has scales on it. Look for them around reefs and clear water, especially down in the Keys.

The quickest tell is the stripe. If you see a line running down its side, you've got a cero.

Always check current FWC regs before you keep either one. How many of you have mixed these two up? Be honest 😂
