RIAA-SoFlo RIAA (Reading Is An Art), a non-profit, community based organization focused on providing academic and socio-emotional intervention to at-risk youths.

RIAA (Reading Is An Art), a non-profit, community based organization focused on providing academic and socio-emotional intervention to some of South Florida's most at-risk youths. An at-risk youth does not necessarily mean a failing student. Youths might be at risk for a myriad of reasons, including socio-economic conditions standing as barriers between them and opportunities. A brilliant student

might be at risk because he or she is not surrounded by a culture that supports or is knowledgeable of the pathways to fulfilling their dreams or to experience success. At RIAA, we work with youth and their families by providing mentoring, college and career pathways and planning, academic skills development and intervention programing. Our comprehensive model taps into and nurtures the youth's interests and unearthed abilities to foster socio-emotional wellness for all-around success. Most importantly, we coach youth to not only receive but to give back to the community - community service and serving is their lifelong responsibility!

Capture this moment with your children and make it an authentic learning moment. Let them click away with the camera to capture the stages; have them research why/how an eclipse happens and the types. Have them write about the characteristics of the supermoon eclipse. Have them put it all in a blog and invite your friends to comment to show appreciation for their hard work. For those too young to create blogs, work with them to create a little storybook made from folded and staple-bound construction paper! Home is the inspiration for learning and parents are the first, great teachers! 30 minutes later to bed is worth it for this memorable moment! Lunar Eclipse
