Celebrate the planet and the paths we love at Edgewood on Sunday, April 12th.

This isn’t just a ride... it’s a celebration of the Long Island Mountain Biking scene!

Got kids interested in mountain biking? We are thrilled to host organizers from the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) on-site to give us the exclusive inside scoop on the upcoming Youth Race Series coming to Long Island this Autumn. The ferns are wilting, they’re gonna hibernate all winter. See you next spring but the trails are open year round. Remember if it’s too muddy be a good buddy and turn back. If you come to a puddle go through the middle so you don’t smush the trailside plants.

Have you seen these curious plants in Edgewood? They are not actually plants at all, these sea sponge looking things are actually a type of lichen called reindeer lichen. They prefer open areas that are mostly dry. Please remember to take only pictures and leave no trace!

November 2017 NY DEC allowed CLIMB to add miles to Edgewood Preserve in order to increase the amount of trail based recreation. If you increase the amount of people using the preserve for a positive recreation like mountain biking, hiking, running and bird watching you can minimize the amount of negative activity because those people don’t want to be seen by people with cellphones that can call the police. Here you can see our trail stewards and volunteers hard at work!
