Fourth of July Events schedule at the Deer Lodge Abner Ross Memorial Center

The Deer Lodge Community invites everyone to come to Deer Lodge on Thursday, July 4th to celebrate the freedom we enjoy because of our brave Military and Service members. Starting at 8:30 a.m. EST vendors located around the gazebo will be selling Amish Donuts, Smoked Sausage, Ice Cream, Crafts, Beauty Items and other various food and miscellaneous items.

There will be information booths for local businesses and candidates asking for your vote as well as the booths listed above. Booths are still available for $30 and with electricity $40. The booths are 16’ X 16’. Call Martha Griffin at 423-965-4142 for more information.

Starting at noon, the Abner Ross Memorial Center will serve its Famous Grilled Chicken Dinner with all the fixins including a freshly baked roll, half a chicken, Italian cut green beans and cole slaw for $13. A leg quarter dinner is $10. Greg Smith, assisted by Josh Maugerman and Robert McCullah are preparing the chicken.

At 10 a.m. the Deer Lodge Quilt Show will begin at the Abner Ross Memorial Center. Contact Pud Langley at 865-805-2044 to get information. To enter your quilts and sewing projects, please bring to the Center by 9 a.m. Prize ribbons will be awarded for Best Show, 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place. Scarves, needlework, crocheted and knitting items and miscellaneous hand made and sewn projects can be entered.

At 1 p.m. EST on the basketball court, the children’s games will begin. Starting with the turtle race, then the penny hunt, the water balloon toss and the sack race. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the freedom earned and protected by our military and law enforcement officers.

Don't forget the 4th of July Parade in Deer Lodge Monday, July 4th. Parade begins around 10:45. Before and after the parade, vendors located around the gazebo will sell B-B-Q, smoked sausage, funnel cakes, crafts and other items.

The Independence Day Celebration starts on June 25th with the Deer Lodge 4th of July Beauty Pageant. Registration will be at 12:00 pm EST and the pageant begins at 1:00 pm EST. For more information call Deana York at 931- 879-0280 or 931- 510-5132. Or go to [email protected] for information.

On Monday, July 4th before and after the parade vendors located around the gazebo will be selling Bar-B-Que, Smoked Sausage, Funnel Cakes, crafts., and other items. There will be information booths for local businesses and candidates asking for your vote. Booths are available for $30.00. The booths are 16’X16’. Call Bob Brimi at 423-628-2850 or 865-919-7988 for more information. The money from the booth rentals helps maintain the Abner Ross Center.

Immediately after the parade the Abner Ross Center will be serving it’s famous grilled ½ chicken dinner with all the fixins’ for $10.00 for adult or $7.00 for 1/4th chicken. Greg Smith, assisted by Josh Maugerman and Robert McCullah will be preparing the chicken.

Before and after the parade the Deer Lodge quilt show will be at the Abner Ross Center. Contact Pud Langley at 423-346-3608 for more information. Prize ribbons will be awarded.

At 2pm EST on the basketball court Roy Langley will conduct the children’s games consisting of the turtle race, the penny hunt, the water balloon toss, and the sack race. Ribbons will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers.

The fireworks show will start at dusk. Joe Miller and company will present the crowd with a fine show.
