American Legion of Iowa, Morrison-Schrader, Post 296, Deep River, Iowa is writing to express strong opposition to SF 2282 (Formerly SSB 3079). Our concerns are rooted in the bill's potential impact on veterans' services in Iowa.

The bill raises concerns about unclear standards, oversight, and potential unfair treatment of counties. Key concerns include:
- Lack of clear guidelines for standards and oversight
- IDVA's authority and potential inconsistencies
- Questions about the claims process and POA
- Elimination of $3,000 for county training
- Privacy concerns with IDVA access to claims
- Potential unfair penalties for counties

The bill's approach to incentivizing counties and standardizing electronic claims systems raises concerns about accuracy, privacy, and veteran choice. Specifically, Poweshiek County's veteran services could be impacted due to potentially unfair metrics, large retroactive awards, and limited resources.

American Legion of Iowa, Morrison-Schrader, Post 296, Deep River, Iowa strongly opposes SF 2282 and urges lawmakers to carefully consider these concerns and engage with stakeholders to ensure the best outcome for Iowa's veterans.
