Horizons is a unique public-private partnership that brings low-income public school students entering grades K-8 to an independent school campus for a summer academic enrichment program, supplemented by school-year components. The model works effectively with underserved students by starting early and providing long-term support. The National Summer Learning Association and the Wallace Foundation
have recognized the Horizons model for excellence. In 2009, Horizons at Dedham Country Day School (DCDS) became the first Horizons affiliate in Massachusetts. Horizons at DCDS draws students from the Dedham and Boston communities and provides free-of-charge a six-week program of academic and cultural enrichment, swimming lessons, weekly field trips, and social support. During the school year, academic tutoring is offered to the students year-round. instagram.com/horizonsatdcd
