Chapter 1 ~ Sign
One spring day in 2008, Jack & Eric, ages 7 and 4, asked their dad if they could have a lemonade stand. When asked what for he said "To buy toys." His dad said they already had quite a few - and then asked him if there was anything else they would want to raise money for. Jack and Eric quickly reconvened and came back with "The sign." The sign welcomed all to the newly installed a
nd dedicated Gregory M. Riley Memorial Playground right down the street. Not for long, though, someone stole it. Backed by a great town, they raised funds all over that summer, donating 100% of their earnings ($237) toward a new sign which was voluntarily funded, crafted, and installed by many great people. And a seed is sown. Chapter 2 ~ Pantry
Over the winter and to our delight, the boys came up with their next campaign. This time it was Eric who spoke up, "I want to help people with no food and no homes." Great cause, I replied. At summer's end 2009, J&E donated 100% of their earnings ($230) to The Dedham Food Pantry. Chapter 3 ~ Pets
The family adopted a cat from the Pine Ridge Animal Center in Dedham a few years ago. In 2010, the pirates decided they wanted to help the animals sheltered there. Just so happens it also was about to undergo a major renovation. As the sun set on their third campaign, J&E handed 100% of their earnings ($769) to the ARL’s Dedham branch. Chapter 4 ~ Kids
In early 2011, the pirates saw a Patch post about ten local charities to give to during the holiday season. One look was all it took. They said they wanted to help their own kind - kids - this year. Sitting at #5 was the PinkRose Foundation, which provides college scholarships to kids who have lost a parent to breast cancer. At the end of their 4th campaign, they gave 100% of their earnings ($1,172) to PinkRose. The first-ever J&E Pirate Lemonade scholarship was created & awarded in early 2012. Chapter 5 ~ Veterans
The pirates' grandfathers proudly & honorably served our country (USN, USMC). J&E got to know them for a too-short time, but long enough to make a lasting impression. They really wanted to help veterans & their families in 2012. Starting on Memorial Day, they set up their stand 10 times over the summer, and on Veterans Day J&E handed 100% of their earnings ($2,110) to the Home Base Program. Chapter 6 ~ You
The pirates decided that their lemonade in 2013 will be FREE. You make what they do possible. It's time for Jack & Eric’s “Thank You” Lemonade. Also, thanks to a girl named Abigail and her wonderful parents, we’ve already raised $1,000 without pouring a drop, which the pirates donated to the Martin Richard Memorial Fund at NHCS on May 15. J&E kick off their 6th season at the Crescent Ridge Dairy (Sharon, MA) Farmers Market on 6/8 (all donations also go to the Martin Richard Memorial Fund at NHCS) and then they'll be at the Dedham (MA) Farmers Market on 6/26, 7/3, 7/24, 7/31, and 8/28 (all donations go to Dedham Toys for Tots). Come one, come all, come thirsty!
