Frequently Asked Questions about Masonry

A Brief Explanation of Freemasonry in question form. "Masonry" or "Freemasonry" is called the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It started in the medieval trade guilds of stonemasons. Masonic groups are called lodges

What is the mission of Masonry? Freemasonry's singular purpose is to make good men better. For nearly three hundred years it has attrac

ted men of high moral character who support the tenets of temperance, fortitude, prudence and justice. The most widely used symbols of Freemasonry are the tools of the stonemason -- a square and compass. When and where was Masonry first recorded? The organization was formally created in London in 1717, and quickly spread to the American colonies and across Europe. Is Masonry a religon? Freemasonry is neither a forum nor a place of worship. It is not a religion nor does it teach a religious philosophy. Freemasonry is not affiliated with any religious group, but members are required to profess belief in a supreme being. Is Masonry a Secret Society? Freemasonry has been called a secret society and even a political conspiracy or religious cult. But Masons believe that what little secrecy they have is simply so members of the fraternity can identify each other by things like handshakes and passwords. The rituals of Masonic Lodge meetings are used to reinforce the central values of the organization, such as morality and belief in a Supreme Being. Many Masonic activities (especially charitable works) are open to the general public. How about Masonic Lodges and Politics? Masonic lodges do not support political campaigns, and they discourage political discussion inside the lodge. Who can become Masons? Men who are Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Parsees have become Freemasons. Masonic ritual refers to the supreme being as the "Great Architect of the Universe", to avoid disharmony between different religions. Have there been some famous Masons? There are many notable Freemasons. Composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, astronaut Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, writer Leo Tolstoy, comedian Richard Pryor, and at least 14 U.S. presidents, including George Washington.

Congratulations to Grant and Robert being Passed to the Degree of Fellowcraft last night.

"Build thee more stately mansions, oh my soul,
As the swift seasons roll;
Leave they low-vaulted past;
Let each new Temple, nobler than the last,
Shut thee from heaven with a dome more vast,
Till thou at length art free;
Leaving thine outgrown shell by life's unresting sea."

🌿☠️What Does Death Teach a Mason? 🌿☠️
(Yeah… we’re going there.)

Death in Masonry isn’t horror movie stuff.
It isn’t doom and gloom.
It’s a reminder. A mirror. A wake-up call. ⏳

Death doesn’t scare a Mason.
It straightens him.

First — it knocks pride flat. 🧱
Doesn’t matter if you’re a CEO or the guy sweeping the floor.
The grave doesn’t care about your titles.
It puts kings and labourers on the same level.

That’s why we meet on the Level. 📐
Because one day… we all will.

Second — it lights a fire under you. 🔥
Time is short.
You don’t get unlimited tomorrows.

So do the good now.
Make the call.
Fix the mistake.
Help the Brother.
Serve your community.

Masonry doesn’t shout.
But it whispers constantly:
Don’t waste the day.

Third — death isn’t extinction.
It’s transition. 🌅
From labor to rest.
From darkness to light.

The acacia reminds us that what is true and good in a man doesn’t rot with the body. 🌿
As Ecclesiastes says:
“The dust returns to the earth… and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

The body is temporary.
Character is not.

Fourth — death tests integrity. ⚖️
Honor over comfort.
Fidelity over convenience.
Better to stand upright and fall
than live bent out of shape.

Your reputation dies.
Your name lives on.
Which one are you building?

And finally — legacy. 🏗️
When you’re gone, what remains?

Money?
Or men you helped?

Title?
Or example?

Fear?
Or respect?

Masonry doesn’t prepare you to die.
It prepares you to live so well that death has nothing left to take but your breath.

Be humble — you’re mortal.
Be useful — time is short.
Be faithful — the soul endures.
Be honorable — your name will echo longer than your heartbeat.

Death isn’t the lesson.
Living right is.
