🍂❤️ Hometown Hope’s 2nd Annual Senior Fall Bag Giveaway! ❤️🍂

We really need your help please!
It’s that time again, and we need our community’s help!

Last year, we were able to bless our local seniors with special fall bags, and we would love to do it again this year. Our goal is to put together 100 bags filled with comfort items, personal-care goodies, and a few little treats to remind our seniors just how loved and appreciated they are. ❤️

🍁 We are collecting:
• 100 throw blankets
• 100 pairs of slip-proof socks — thicker ones preferred for extra safety
• 100 body washes
• 100 shampoos
• 100 conditioners
• 100 bottles of lotion
• 100 ChapSticks
• 100 bags of sugar-free candy
• 100 crossword puzzle books
• 100 pens

We would love to have all donations in by September 25th so we can put everything together and hopefully begin handing the bags out by October 1st! 🍂

Sometimes something as simple as a warm blanket, a new bottle of lotion, or a little treat can brighten someone’s entire day. We want each of our seniors to open their bag and know that their community is thinking about them. ❤️

If you, your family, a business, church, or organization would like to donate or sponsor some of these items, we would be incredibly grateful!

❤️ We are so thankful! ❤️

We just wanted to share a few pictures and show you what your donations help us do! When we shop through the food bank, our dollars go so much further, which means we can put even more food on our shelves for families in our community. 🥫❤️

A HUGE thank you to the Sanilac County Farm Bureau for the meat donation, and to Steaks and Cupcakes for being a regular sponsor and helping us keep meat available for our families. You guys are amazing! ❤️

And to all of our monthly donors and sponsors — THANK YOU! Every donation, big or small, truly makes a difference.

We are still looking for a few more sponsors who would like to help us keep our other pantry shelves stocked. ❤️

🌟 HOMETOWN HOPE VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH 🌟

At Hometown Hope, we are incredibly blessed by every single person who volunteers, shows up, shares our posts, donates, supports our programs, and helps us keep going. We want each and every one of you to know that you are seen, you are valued, and you are appreciated more than words can say. ❤️

With that being said, we are excited to begin recognizing a Hometown Hope Volunteer of the Month, and I cannot think of a more deserving person to start with than Susan Wigton. ❤️

Susan is one of the OGs of Hometown Hope. She has been beside me almost from the very beginning, through every season, every program, every crazy idea, every busy day, and every moment when I wasn’t quite sure how we were going to pull something off.

And Susan? She just shows up with that beautiful smile and says:

“Okay, what do you need me to do?”
“Alright, let’s get this done.”
“You’ve got this.”

That is Susan. ❤️

She is positive, bubbly, compassionate, loving, dependable, and one of the most genuinely kind people you will ever meet. She doesn’t show up because she wants recognition. She shows up because she truly cares about people.

And THAT is what Hometown Hope is all about.

We don’t do this for recognition. We do it because maybe someone is struggling and needs groceries in their cupboard. Maybe a senior needs a warm meal and someone to sit and talk with. Maybe a child needs school clothes and a backpack. Maybe a family is going through one of the hardest seasons of their life and simply needs someone to remind them that they are not alone.

Sometimes helping means food. Sometimes it means clothing. Sometimes it means rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. And sometimes it simply means being a friend.

Susan embodies all of it — kindness, compassion, love, and service.

Susan, you make my heart incredibly happy, and I am so thankful you are part of Hometown Hope. You’re not only a volunteer. You’re my friend, and you’re family.

Thank you for sticking it out with us through every season and every program. Thank you for laughing with me when I don’t quite have all my ducks in a row. 😂 Somehow, we always figure it out, we get it done, and we make one heck of a team!

You are phenomenal, Susan.
