Day 4️⃣

Meet Breona, one of our amazing Family Support Specialists! 🏠 Each week, she steps into the homes and hearts of families in Adams County, offering guidance, resources, and a compassionate ear. She supports families as they navigate the beautiful, sometimes chaotic journey of early childhood, all from the comfort of their own living rooms.

Breona is not only a wonderful support for families in Adams County she is also a wonderful mom to her children 🩵

-Breona Myers- Family Support Worker
2. How long have you worked here?
- 4 years
3.What's your favorite part of your job?
-Getting to know my families and having the honor of getting to be a part of their lives. Seeing successes and watching them grow as individuals and as a family unit. I learn so much from each family I see! 🩵
4.What is one thing you are most proud of (big or small)?
-My children
5. If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be, and why?
-Sarah Wolfe, so I could boss her around
6. What's your guilty pleasure TV show?
-Love on the Spectrum
7.What made you smile today?
-Watching a little client show me a new skill and hearing their little giggle as they did it :)
8.What's one thing you love about yourself?
- Ability to see things from multiple different perspectives..

-Beach 🌴

-Mexican- mole, empanadas, tamales, etc

-Texting
12. Tell us one family tradition you look forward to?
- Heading to Kansas at Thanksgiving to see my grandma
13. If you had a time machine, what year would you go to and why? -Around 25 AD. I'd love to sit down and talk with Jesus for a bit. His wisdom and teachings on compassion completely reshaped human history, so I'd love the chance to sit down and just have a conversation.

-Chaos everything
15. If you could eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
-Probably pizza..there's numerous different toppings/ways to make it

-My children's health

-Healthy Families, of course!

Today we’re excited to celebrate Jodi! For 29 years, she’s been a vital part of our Healthy Families program, bringing compassion, dedication, and a strong commitment to advocating for the families she supports. Whether guiding a family through a tough time or offering steady support during day-to-day challenges, Jodi treats everyone with true dignity and respect.

We want everyone to see what a true gem Jodi is, both personally and professionally! Here are some fun and random facts about her.

-Jodi Eads- Family Support Specialist
2. How long have you worked here?
-29 years
3. What's your favorite part of your job?
-The relationships built with families; watching them grow and thrive and celebrating their successes with them!
4. What is one thing you are most proud of (big or small)?
-All of my grandkids
5. If you could swap jobs with anyone for a day, who would it be, and why?
-Taylor Swift! I have the heart and soul for singing, but not the voice, lol. Also, I love all of the wonderful things that she does to help people. She’s very generous!
6. What's your guilty pleasure TV show?
-Handmaid’s Tale
7. What made you smile today?
-A picture of my husband and granddaughters heading into school!
8. What's one thing you love about yourself?
-I see the big picture- no black and white. I see gray all the way!

-Lincoln Ridge Farm- the grandkids love it!

Next up on our Employee Spotlight is Sarah! Sarah is our incredible Program Director whose leadership, vision, and dedication keep our ADAMS County Healthy Families Program thriving.

Sarah’s dedication to families in our community inspires our team every day, bringing excellence and heart to every project. As Program Director, she leads, supervises, and guides the Healthy Families program to ensure it meets Healthy Families America (HFA) credentialing standards as well as local and funder requirements.

-I have an older brother who lives in New York with his wife and stepchildren and a nephew serving in the US Navy.

Tantrums don’t mean your child is “bad.” ❤️

Young children are still learning how to handle frustration, disappointment, anger, and big emotions. Their brains simply aren’t ready to regulate those feelings like adults can.

Instead of only correcting the behavior, help them feel safe, name the emotion, set gentle boundaries, and teach them what they can do next.

Big feelings need guidance, not shame.

Iris Family Support Center is hosting a free Car Seat Safety Event as part of the larger Allen County Safety Fair on September 12 from 10-1. We will have Child Passenger Safety Technicians on hand to inspect and ensure your child's car seats are installed correctly.

Children must be present during to help ensure the car seat is inspect correctly based on their size and they must be accompanied by a licensed driver. Heavy Trash & Recycling Schedule Update. Mark your calendars! Heavy Trash Week will be September 14–18. Please note that this would normally be a recycling week, so our recycling schedule will shift slightly:

September 14–18: Heavy Trash Week
September 21–25: Recycling Week
September 28–October 2: Recycling Week as regularly scheduled

After that, recycling will return to its normal every-other-week schedule.
