As our Wise County schools welcome a new year, we wanted to remind counselors that they have our full support. 💙
Jenny's Hope in Grief recently had the privilege of delivering goodie baskets as a small token of our gratitude for the incredible work they do every day. We hope these baskets serve as a reminder that caring for the hearts of students begins with caring for the hearts of those who serve them. Thank you to all those who create a safe place for children to learn, grow, and heal.
Here's to a year filled with kindness, hope, and compassion. 🍎📚❤️

"Bereaved Parents Awareness Month is observed each July to acknowledge parents who have experienced the death of a child and to highlight the importance of support, understanding, and compassion for grieving families. This observance provides an opportunity to reflect on the lasting impact of child loss, remember the lives of children who have died, and increase awareness of the many ways families experience and express grief.

At Judi's House, we are honored to walk alongside families as they navigate life after loss. During Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, we join communities across the country in fostering understanding, creating space for remembrance, and encouraging meaningful conversations about grief, connection, and support."

This is what Jenny's Hope in Grief is also dedicated to.
As a grieving parent myself, I want you to know we see you. We hear you. We stand with you. And we want to walk with you.

Thank you, DecaturISD, for inviting us to speak to our teachers Thursday afternoon! I love teaching beside Jana and what an honor for us to share ideas about Navigating Grief in Schools.
We are deeply grateful for our teachers and for the way they nurture our community’s kiddos!

What an honor to present at The National Alliance for Children in Grief symposium last week in San Antonio! Grief work is hard and can feel so confusing. But it is also so rewarding and deeply connecting.
We walked away from this symposium with a wealth of new information from excellent presenters and a big stack of business cards and contact info for our brand new friends and colleagues!

Once you get involved in this work, you learn to carry it with you always. While Jana Bearden was on stage presenting in our session, her Apple watch was going off repetitively. It was one year ago that we began to walk with teens from our community following the death of two high school siblings. Jana led their grief group and had reached out to them as soon as we arrived in San Antonio. The connection runs deep. We walk together.

Here we are at the NACG National Alliance for Children's Grief annual conference, about to present; When the Unthinkable Happens: Emergency Grief Support for Small Schools After a Student Death.

Please pray. Please pray that we are clear in sharing our research and our work. Please pray that more children receive guidance on how to walk a road of suffering, still walking with hope and joy.

When tragedy hits a small school, we focus on students—and we should.

But the adults are carrying a lot too.

Teachers showing up while grieving.
Counselors supporting others while processing their own loss.
Staff trying to hold things together for kids.

In small communities, those roles overlap with real relationships.

They didn’t just “know” the person who died.
They loved them.

Supporting a school means supporting the people holding it together.

Jana Bearden, Devon McCain, and Beverly Ross are honored to have been asked to present at the National Alliance for Children’s Grief Symposium in June. They have spent hours preparing and are almost ready.

We never chose this work. It chose us. But we know how to do it and we won’t stop. We are hoping to share valuable information that we’ve learned in school hallways following the deaths of students and teachers.

Support our first responders
Walk with the grieving widow as she raises her young children
Provide healthy tools to people during the hardest chapters of their lives
Offer hope to wounded hearts.
