🚨 WEEKEND WEATHER ALERT 🌧️💨

Crews with the Flint City Volunteer Fire Department are closely monitoring the weather ahead of this weekend.

Hurricane Isaias is expected to make landfall tomorrow evening along the Florida Panhandle and Alabama Gulf Coast. As the remnants of this tropical system move northward, our area could experience hazardous weather conditions throughout the day Saturday.

⚠️ MAIN THREATS FOR SATURDAY:

🌧️ Heavy Rainfall & Flooding – Periods of heavy rain could lead to flash flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

💨 Damaging Winds (40–60 MPH) – Strong wind gusts could bring down trees and power lines, potentially causing power outages.

🌪️ Low-End Tornado Threat – While the overall threat remains low, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

🚨 WATCHES CURRENTLY IN EFFECT:

🌧️ FLOOD WATCH
Saturday, 1:00 AM – Sunday, 7:00 AM

💨 HIGH WIND WATCH
Saturday, 7:00 AM – Sunday, 7:00 AM

As we prepare for the possibility of severe weather, FCVFD would like to remind everyone of a few important safety tips:

⚠️ Turn Around, Don't Drown! Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. You never know how deep the water may be or if the roadway underneath has been washed away.

⚡ Stay Away From Downed Power Lines! Always treat downed power lines as LIVE. Keep your distance and report them to the proper authorities.

📞 Know Who to Call! For emergencies, dial 911. For non-emergency assistance, contact the non-emergency dispatch line at (256) 350-4613.

We encourage everyone to remain weather-aware throughout the weekend, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, and take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their families safe.

Our crews will be ready to respond and assist our community in any way we can should the need arise.

Stay safe, Flint City!

A farewell and two new beginnings for Flint City Fire & Rescue. 🚒

We’re saying goodbye to our old Rescue 3 and thanking it for the years it served our department and community.

Taking its place is Engine 1, a 2010 Pierce pumper. Replacing Rescue 3 with an engine gives us more capability to respond to emergencies and serve our community. We’re also welcoming QRV-1, a Ford F-250, to the fleet.

Thank you to everyone who supports our volunteer department. We’re proud to keep moving forward together. ❤️

🍂🔥 Fall Is Here — Enjoy the Fire, Safely! 🔥🍂

We’re officially into the “-ber” months, and cooler fall evenings are starting to show up. That means more bonfires, fire pits, backyard gatherings, and time spent around the fire with family and friends.

Before you light up, Flint City Fire & Rescue reminds everyone to make fire safety part of the plan. Check local burning regulations and conditions, choose a safe location away from anything that can burn, keep your fire manageable, and always have water or another way to extinguish it nearby.

Most importantly, never leave an outdoor fire unattended. When the evening is over, completely extinguish the fire with water, stir the ashes, and soak them again. Make sure everything is cool before walking away.

🔥 Enjoy the cooler weather.
🍁 Enjoy time with family and friends.
🚒 Burn responsibly and help keep our community safe.

Today, we remember every life lost on September 11, 2001—the innocent people who never made it home, the first responders who answered the call, and the families and communities forever changed by that day.

We honor the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, and countless others who responded without hesitation. Many ran toward danger while others were trying to escape, placing the lives of strangers ahead of their own. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten.

In the days that followed, our nation came together. Neighbors helped neighbors, strangers stood beside one another, and communities found strength in unity. We were reminded that even in our darkest moments, we are stronger when we stand together.

May we continue to carry that same spirit into our own community—serving one another, looking out for our neighbors, supporting our first responders, and standing united when it matters most.

Together, we remember. Together, we honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸
