Planning to vote by mail in Georgia? If you haven't requested your absentee ballot yet, today is the day to do it.

Your request must be received by your county election office today, October 23.

If voting by mail is the option that works best for you, don't wait until later.

📱 Could Georgia create a dedicated fund to improve 9-1-1 services?

When someone calls 9-1-1, emergency call centers help connect them with assistance. This amendment would allow Georgia lawmakers to establish a special fund used only to expand, maintain, operate, and upgrade 9-1-1 systems.

Here’s what your vote means:

🔵 A YES vote: Allows lawmakers to create a dedicated 9-1-1 fund. New laws would determine which revenues go into the fund and how the money is used.

⚪ A NO vote: Does not allow this special fund. Georgia could continue funding 9-1-1 through the existing budget and laws.

What else should you know?
• A Yes vote does not create the fund automatically.
• The amendment does not set a new phone fee.
• The fund could only be used for 9-1-1 services, if lawmakers establish it through future legislation.

🗳️ Should probate judges run without political party labels?

Probate judges help handle wills, estates, guardianships, and marriage licenses. In Georgia, the rules for whether probate judge candidates appear on the ballot with a political party label can vary by county.

Here’s what the proposed amendment would change:

🔵 A YES vote: Requires all probate judges across Georgia to be elected in nonpartisan elections, without party names next to candidates.

⚪ A NO vote: Keeps the current system, in which county law determines whether probate judge elections are nonpartisan. A county could still choose to remove party labels.

The amendment would change how probate judges are elected, not how long they serve.

🗳️ KNOW WHAT’S ON YOUR BALLOT: GEORGIA AMENDMENT 1 HR32

🌾 Could larger farms qualify for a bigger property tax break?

Georgia voters will decide whether to increase the amount of farmland, timberland, and conservation-use land that one owner can enroll in a program with lower property taxes.

Here’s what the proposed amendment would change:

🌱 A YES vote: Raises the limit from 2,000 acres to 4,000 acres per owner.

🌳 A NO vote: Keeps the current limit of 2,000 acres per owner.

The program’s other rules would stay the same, including the requirement to keep using the land for farming or growing trees for 10 years. Owners who stop early must repay the tax savings.

Supporters say the change could help family farms remain in business. Others raise concerns about potential effects on tax revenue for schools and local governments and whether larger operations would benefit more than smaller farms.

If you plan to vote with an absentee ballot, don't leave it until the last minute.

📅 October 23 is the deadline for your absentee ballot application to be received by your county elections office.

Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully and return it in time for it to be received by 7 p.m. on November 3.
