Our staff members Awaz, Meena, Hawa, and Yulia were honored to participate in Advocacy Days with Refugee Council USA, joining advocates and leaders from across the country to amplify the voices of refugees, asylum seekers, and forcibly displaced communities.
When diverse voices come together, meaningful change becomes possible.
Thank you to Refugee Council USA for bringing leaders together and creating a wonderful opportunity for us to connect, learn, share, and advocate together. Grateful for the collaboration and the collective impact we can make.

🌿✨ This summer, we launched our first-ever Youth Outside Program!

The Outdoor Wellness Program will now bring high school girls together through hiking, paddling, biking, camping, and community. While participants are learning outdoor skills, the heart of the program is helping young women build confidence, strengthen friendships, discover their leadership potential, and deepen their connection to both nature and themselves.

Over the course of seven outdoor adventures, participants will explore Georgia’s parks, rivers, and trails alongside our incredible RWN Peer Leaders—women from our community who are stepping into leadership roles as mentors, guides, and role models.

The outdoors offers more than recreation. It creates space for courage, belonging, self-discovery, and joy. We are excited to see these young women challenge themselves, support one another, and grow together throughout the summer.

A huge thank you to REI Oboz Footwear and the Summit Foundation for helping make this new initiative possible. Your support is opening doors for the next generation of outdoor leaders. 💚

✨ Yesterday, we hosted a Wellness Group at CCC with 14 incredible women from our community.

Participants learned about child well-being, family rights, and navigating child welfare systems during an informative session led by attorney Jenny Hyynh of Jenny Law Firm. The discussion was engaging, practical, and empowering for everyone who attended.

We are grateful to Jenny and her team for sharing their expertise and for generously providing gifts to all participants. 💙

At Refugee Women’s Network, we believe that access to trusted information helps families thrive and strengthens our communities.

We’re grateful to Georgia Health Initiative and our incredible partners—Emory Rollins, Emory Global Pediatrics, Ethne Health, and Araamba Film—for making this work possible. ❤️

This summer, RWN will partner with Ethne Health to evaluate our culturally grounded infant anemia prevention videos through community focus groups led by Emory MPH student Wangare. Engaging RWN MothersxMothers groups and Ethne clinic sessions, we’ll gather feedback from mothers and families to strengthen these resources before broader distribution.

This project demonstrates the power of multi-sector collaboration to create meaningful systems change by centering community voices, cultural wisdom, and lived experience in health education. We’re excited for the next phase of learning, refinement, and impact.

🥾🌿 Peer Leader Spotlight: Esther Takes the Lead! 🌿🥾

Last month, RWN Community Health Worker and Peer Leader Esther successfully led her own hiking group! 🎉

Esther co-led the Indian Creek Parent Engagement hike to Red Top Mountain, bringing together 16 staff and parents for a day of movement, connection, and community. The group hiked an impressive 6.5 miles, enjoying the beauty of Georgia’s outdoors before gathering for a picnic filled with grilled food, laughter, and fellowship.

At Refugee Women’s Network, we believe leadership grows from lived experience. Through our Peer Leadership Pathway, participants build confidence, develop outdoor leadership skills, and create welcoming spaces where others can thrive. Seeing Esther step into this role is exactly what community-led wellness looks like. 💚

Please join us in congratulating Esther on this achievement and for inspiring others to get outside, stay active, and build community together!

Thank you for welcoming us and and for supporting!
