As images and reports of devastation reach us from Venezuela, our hearts are heavy — and our prayers are rising.

To our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living through this crisis right now: you are not forgotten. You are held in the prayers of the Cooperative Baptist Felowship, and you are held in the hands of a faithful God.

We are actively reaching out to our local partners on the ground to discern the most meaningful and effective ways to walk alongside the churches, their congregations, and the broader communities affected. As we learn more, we will share how the Fellowship can respond together. As the needs are escalating, we are ready to send financial support. You may begin to send at the CBF Disaster Response link below.

For now, we ask each of you to pray. Pray for safety and peace in the midst of chaos for rescuers and those affected. Pray for strength for the pastors, deacons, and ministry leaders who are serving their communities under enormous pressure. Pray for provision — for shelter, food, clean water, and medical care. Pray for hope to hold, even when circumstances feel hopeless.

🎊 At closing worship of the 2026 General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Karl B. Johnson challenged Cooperative Baptists to “stand up and speak out,” calling the church to forthrightness, fearlessness and faithfulness.

Preaching from Revelation 2, he warned against proximity to power that weakens witness, urged discernment alongside courage, and pointed to repentance as a path to renewal and hope. 🎊

Watch the closing worship session from the 2026 CBF General Assembly in Jacksonville, featuring Baptist World Alliance Chair Rev. Karl B. Johnson, who challenged Cooperative Baptists to stand up and speak out with forthrightness, fearlessness and faithfulness.

The service concluded around the Lord’s Table in a bilingual observance and highlighted CBF’s 35th Anniversary Holy Ambition Campaign, inviting Cooperative Baptists to recommit themselves to bold service, racial repair, emerging leaders and God’s work of justice and hope in the world.

☀️ Members and friends of fAMILIA gathered Friday morning at 2026 General Assembly for a breakfast marked by fellowship, celebration and the Latino network’s vibrant spirit. During the gathering, fAMILIA commissioned its third Advisory Board in its nine-year history.

The new EFLAN board includes six leaders serving in pastoral ministry, theological education, mental health and family and youth ministry, offering spiritual discernment and guidance for the network’s work. Margie Rivera will serve as moderator.

📣 "Where is God calling you to speak boldly?"

At the 2026 CBF General Assembly, outgoing Moderator Tanya Parks challenged Cooperative Baptists to deepen belonging, strengthen global missions and make more room for women called to ministry.

At the Dr. Emmanuel McCall Racial Justice Trailblazer Luncheon during 2026 CBF General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Howard-John Wesley urged Cooperative Baptists to practice a faith rooted in Jesus’ way of mercy, not exclusion.

Preaching on the Good Samaritan, Wesley warned against “a lot that claims the name Jesus Christ” but doesn’t reflect Christ’s love, challenging attendees to move beyond Scripture used to justify division.

He lifted up the question “Who is my neighbor?” as a test of who people feel permission to exclude, and pointed to the unnamed wounded man in the parable as a reminder that human dignity is not defined by identity or status.

“The problem was not the brother. The problem was the road,” Wesley said, calling the church to address the systems that shape suffering rather than blame those left in it.

✝️ “Women’s stories are sacred work,” Vanderbilt Divinity School dean Yolanda Pierce said Thursday at the Baptist Women in Ministry dinner during the 2026 CBF General Assembly 2026.

Pierce invited Cooperative Baptists to notice and preserve the often-overlooked stories of women in the church—especially the ones whose faith and labor held congregations together behind the scenes.

“There is actually no spontaneous memory,” she said. “You have to deliberately create it.”

She closed by encouraging attendees to name the women who shaped their own faith and remember their stories as part of the church’s living history.
