Find today's mission bite from CBF field personnel Mike below!

"I always begin by asking, 'What crises are affecting your community?' The hundred leaders from different religious backgrounds begin answering. From their overlapping answers, they quickly discern that many of the problems facing this world affect more than one religious community. Pollution, terrorism, human rights abuses and the ever-present threats of our digital age are challenges for religious leaders and their congregations across the spectrum. Helping these diverse groups find ways to work together has been the aim of one of the projects we have supported over the last few years.

Over the lifetime of the program, more than 1,600 religious leaders from 16 cities came together to learn from an equally diverse group of trainers. The trainers included Muslim and Christian leaders of various backgrounds and, of course, one Baptist.

In our ever-diversifying local communities—be they here in Asia or Yourtown, U.S.— I wonder what would happen if Christian leaders called together members of other faith communities and asked the question, 'What crises are affecting our community?/ Could we likewise discern that these problems go beyond our congregations? And what sort of witness would that be if we were to show others that we wanted to bring peace, justice and restoration to all communities?"

✌ 📓 Move over 90s summer, it’s time for throwback CEC! ✏✨

Meet us at the Christian Educators Conference, the bi-annual learning experience designed for CBF ministers. This time we’re returning to Study Hall! Roam the halls with us for a week of learning, thinking, growing and connecting.

We’re trading algebra and biology for classes our ministers need most—technology and the spiritual formation of children, AI and the future of faith, leadership, relationships and conflict, learning about ministry resources and an ending to “volun-tears,” senior adults as part of the intergenerational church, the gifts of neurodivergence, church safety and safeguarding and how to equip parents for intentional faith formation.

🫶 🍊"About 15 years ago, we knew a young Afghan woman names Zakia. In fact, we hosted a baby shower when she had her first child. Zakia moved away and has returned to the Bay Area and just recently reconnect with us. Now she has four children! The baby for whom we hosted the shower is now a big teenage girl. Zakia and her husband are struggling financially because she isn't able to work due to a leg injury and her husband is an Uber driver. It's very difficult for them to manage on just one (unpredictable) salary here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

They live in a tiny apartment in Oakland. When we came to visit we brought with us a large order of groceries with lots of good meats, fruits and vegetables, rice, milk and eggs—enough food to last at least two weeks. Food insecurity is a big challenge for Afghan refugee families and I wish we could do more!" 🫶 🥦

🍅🍃What does it mean to be truly present with the people we serve?

For CBF field personnel Ellen and Rick Burnette, incarnational ministry has meant more than showing up. In southwest Florida, it means growing, harvesting and sharing food alongside farmworker families and their neighbors—while also advocating for immigrant and farmworker rights.

Through Cultivate Abundance and Misión Peniel, their work is rooted in relationship, community and the belief that sometimes the best way to serve is to get your hands dirty. 🍅🍃

🤝 Disaster relief is about far more than responding to an emergency. It is a ministry of presence.

CBF field personnel Scarlette Jasper has spent the past year walking alongside families recovering from devastating floods and tornados in Kentucky — helping with home repairs, emergency needs, mental health support and pastoral care.

For one family, that journey recently reached a long-awaited milestone: nearly a year after the tornado, they finally moved back into their home.

“Restoration is about more than rebuilding walls. It is about restoring dignity, renewing hope and helping families believe that brighter days are still ahead.”
