“Every human has the right to be free.”
Today, we deeply honor and celebrate June 19, 2025, this Juneteenth remembering the progress that has been made and all of those who have fought for civil rights. To celebrate with and for the African American peoples’ sheer resilience and example in the face of extreme prejudice and hardships untold.
But we also know that so many injustices are still going on this very day at this very time- we see them with our own eyes and hear them with our ears. We know that an injustice for one is an injustice for all. Quoting the Human Rights Campaign “ we’re not free until we’re ALL free.”- we have the obligation as people ( and especially as brothers and sisters in Christ) to keep fighting until we can all live equally, with dignity and honor, no matter our race, skin color, socioeconomic status or background.
God created each and every one EQUAL, that’s the way we are in His eyes, so on today Juneteenth, we honor this day and we ask a prayer,
“ Dear Lord, let us see each other as you see us, let us love one another as you command of us. Move us to fight against inequality against our brothers and sisters on this earth that you’ve allowed us to walk for this time, being good and gentle stewards of both the land and of our friends and neighbors. Let us move boldly and fight strongly when we see something that is wrong. These beautiful colors, complexions and cultures of all peoples that you’ve placed for generations over all your earth are infinitely beautiful because they were created by YOU. We ask that you change the heart of anyone who does not yet see through this lens. Cause us to love and honor each and every person as ourselves.
In Jesus’ name, Amen. “
