In March, the NHBW, Inc. Atlanta Metro Chapter continued its “Reading for Life – I Need to Read” initiative by participating in Chapel Hill Elementary School’s “Read Across America” Day in Douglasville. The students had an amazing time, and it was a joy connecting with the dedicated CHES staff and fellow community readers who helped make the day so special!
To further support youth literacy, the chapter also donated 300 books to three incredible organizations—The D.A.Z.E.Y. Project, Christ Child of Atlanta, and Jump 4 Books—to help put more books into the hands of young readers across the community.

In honor of our NHBW Shero, Fannie Lou Hamer, members of the Atlanta Metro Chapter—Sisters Linda, Stephanie, Diedre (Dee), Edwina, and Abenaa—enjoyed a wonderful outing to see the play, The Fannie Lou Hamer Story, on March 14, 2026, at the Douglass Theatre in Macon, Georgia.
It was truly a day filled with inspiration, reflection, and meaningful fellowship. We were especially honored to meet and take photos with Mauro Moyo Aimbaye, the talented writer and performer of the one-woman play, as well as Toni Simmons Henson and Wanda Simmons, founders of the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival.
It was an unforgettable experience celebrating legacy, culture, and sisterhood!

The Atlanta Metro Chapter hosted its 2026 Teens Overcoming Pressure Summit (TOPS) at the Hapeville Charter School. The theme was “Preparing for the Future: Job Readiness Preparation for Success.”
For the first time, our program was delivered as a two-part summit, which will equip students with career essentials that will provide them with confidence for the future. Students gained hands-on experience in resume writing, professional dress, and interview skills through engaging workshops and mock interviews. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with participants highlighting the valuable guidance and real-world preparation.
Through this initiative, the chapter continues to uplift and prepare youth to rise above pressure and step confidently into their purpose and future success. 💼✨
