Mission:
To provide leadership in the minority community of Decatur / Morgan County by implementing programs and services that will address the whole person's spiritual, mental, and physical development. (DMDA) united in 1992 to provide leadership within the minority communities of Decatur and Morgan County. The purpose of DMDA is to improve social services, promote harmony, and develop effective

partnerships between minority citizens, governmental, political, and private entities within Decatur and Morgan County. It also strives to assure that all available resources are deployed to reverse the current trends of educational deficiencies, substance abuse problems, violence, economic poverty, and spiritual stagnation. DMDA is a faith-based organization with the goal and focus of improving the quality of life for all citizens of Decatur/Morgan County. We recognize that there are a number of individuals and orgnaziations that are having a positive impact on the targeted groups. DMDA desires to provide unity and cohesiveness among these groups in order to reduce redundancy of effort.

You’re invited to the READY Set Grow event this Sunday, October 19, from 3–5 PM at the Career Academies of Decatur.

Whether you’re thinking about technical school, military service, job training, or college — this is the place to get connected. Get help with applications, find scholarship and financial aid info, explore career paths, and even meet reps with sports opportunities.

This event is free and open to the public.

A special thank-you to Decatur Morgan County Minority Development Association, Calhoun Community College, NUCOR Technical Academy, Decatur City Schools, Terrell Suggs Management, the U.S. Army, and Yvonne Sanderson for making this possible.

Since 2018, DMDA alomg with our community partners have strategically invested in 6th grade local students to prepare them for the increasing demands, expectations, awareness, and opportunities available in the world of Cyber and STEM technology advances.

The 2025 summerCaST (Cyber and STEM Talent Camp) was a highly successful and pactful opportunity for the students in that more students participated with a record mumber corporate and education partners engaged to make it a memorable experience for the students.
