Tomorrow, October 10th, is World Homeless Day—a time to shine a light on real, lasting solutions to chronic homelessness. 🌍

At CaringWorks, we believe that housing is healthcare. Safe shelter is the essential first step, but true recovery requires comprehensive support. Through Permanent Supportive Housing—combining a safe place to live with comprehensive services like employment assistance, mental health care, and addiction treatment and education—our clients maintain permanent housing year after year.

After years of caring for others, Norma found herself facing homelessness and in need of support. Through CaringWorks, she found stable housing and a chance to focus on her own future. Today, she’s back in school and working toward new goals.

For Stacey Hines, Care Coordinator at Hope House, making an impact isn’t always about reaching a major milestone. Sometimes, it’s knowing that someone felt supported and respected during a difficult time.

After one year with CaringWorks, Stacey has built a reputation among Hope House clients that often reaches them before they even meet her.

She says the best part of her job is “knowing I helped someone find the best version of themselves, either for a moment or a lifetime.”

We are excited to welcome Dr. Alieizoria (DrA) Redd as CaringWorks’ next president and CEO, effective Oct. 5!

Following a national search led by our Board of Directors, DrA will bring a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, social work and homeless services to CaringWorks as we continue our mission of helping individuals and families move out of homelessness and into stability.

Carol Collard, our co-founder and president and CEO of 24 years, will work closely with DrA to ensure continuity in our work and a smooth leadership transition.

We are grateful for Carol’s continued guidance during this important time and excited to welcome DrA as CaringWorks looks toward the future!

Recovery services work best when people can fully access and engage with the support they need.

Since 2012, CaringWorks’ Deaf Bridges to Recovery program at Hope House has provided specialized residential treatment and recovery services for men experiencing homelessness who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Through staff who are fluent in American Sign Language and knowledgeable about Deaf culture, participants have access to counseling, care coordination, recovery support and other services designed to remove communication barriers and support long-term stability.

During National Deaf Awareness Month, we’re proud to highlight this important work and the need for accessible behavioral health and recovery services.
