About the Book: Edwina's shaky world is rocked by the murder of a childhood friend on a sweltering Georgia day in 1929. Tomorrow is the annual National Book Festival in Washington, D.C.! If you're in the area, you should absolutely attend in person, but even if you're not, there are virtual ways you can participate! Every year, a list of books representing the literary heritage of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands is distributed by the Library of Congress’s Center for the Book during the National Book Festival. Each book is selected by a local Center for the Book or state library. Books may be written by authors from the state, take place in the state, or celebrate the state’s culture and heritage. This list began with mostly books for young readers, but an adult list was added in 2022, so each year, states pick both a Young Readers’ Selection and an Adult Readers’ Selection. The Georgia selections for this year are There's Lots to See in Georgia by Jennifer W. Dickey (Adult) and Coretta: The Autobiography of Mrs. Coretta Scott King (Young Readers). There's Lots to See in Georgia is a comprehensive guide to the historic sites owned and operated by the state of Georgia, and Coretta is a children's book adapted from her adult memoir as the wife of Martin Luther King, Jr., and an activist and human rights champion in her own right.
