This one hit me this year. I decorated late, like very late. I’m talking the tree didn’t get done til last week and presents weren’t wrapped and things put away until Christmas Eve Eve.
Once done, i stood back and was overwhelmed with just…. Sadness. Which is crazy because there were so many stockings full…. But Abby’s was hanging there empty. All the things she would be doing this season. The continued processing of grief-because it never ends- is sometimes exhausting.
So if I seem distance, cold, or disengaged—— I’m spent, just …. Spent.
And I’m not the only one-so give people a break.
For those whose holiday joy is mixed with worry or grief, know you are not alone. That we see you, and open our hearts to you.
