SPORTS ALABAMA Sports Alabama is the official "state sports initiative" charged with attracting sports tourism events to Sweet Home Alabama!

The Alabama Sports Initiative (Sports Alabama) was created in 2006 to help members of the Alabama Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (AADMO) participate in sports trade shows while positioning Alabama as a unique sports destination. Thanks to the support of State Tourism Director Lee Sentell, Sports Alabama was funded and established as a cohesive team of Convention & Visitors Bure

au's from around the state working together to attract tournaments, events and competitions to Alabama. By helping off-set costs and creating marketing pieces to promote the organization, Sports Alabama allows its members to partner together to attend trade shows and explore opportunities for future business. Today, through the hard work, dedication and support of our members, Sports Alabama continues to stand as a leader and example for successful statewide sports organizations throughout the hospitality and travel industry.

It was just one month ago that Mobile was the center of the gymnastics world as the USA Gymnastics Trampoline & Tumbling Region 5 Championships took over the Mobile Convention Center May 15-17th!

Over three exciting days, 650 athletes and 130 coaches from eight southeastern states traveled to Alabama to compete in one of the sport's premier regional championships. As a qualifying event for both the USA Gymnastics National Championships and the Stars and Stripes Cup, the Region 5 Championships brought elite competition, passionate fans, and significant economic impact to the Mobile community.

For only the second time in NCAA history, one state is hosting THREE NCAA Division I Baseball Super Regionals in the same weekend—and that state is ALABAMA.
