Hospice of the Valley extends our sincere gratitude to the Kiwanis Club of Decatur, Alabama, for serving as the Presenting Partner of our 30th Anniversary Camp Hope.
This year’s one-day children's bereavement camp, golf-themed "Par-Tee for 30 Years," welcomed campers ages 5–12. Together, we created a safe and supportive space where children could connect, heal, and learn healthy ways to navigate grief.
We believe learning how to cope with loss at an early age can have a lasting, positive impact on emotional development and overall well-being.
We are deeply grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Decatur, Alabama for their support and commitment to the children and families in our community. Their partnership helped make Camp Hope possible and ensures that these young hearts receive the care, encouragement, and hope they deserve.

Today we got to Par-Tee for 30 Years of Camp Hope!

We proudly celebrated the 30th anniversary of our one-day children's bereavement camp, with a golf theme, welcoming 36 campers ages 5–12 and supported by approximately 60 incredible volunteers at Ingalls Harbor.
A heartfelt thank you to Kiwanis Club of Decatur, Alabama, Decatur Women's Chamber of Commerce, our generous private donors, dedicated volunteers, the Neighborhood Christian Center of Alabama, Inc. Summer Youth Leadership volunteers, and the HOTV staff who made this special day possible.
And a huge round of applause for Brandy Strickland, our Children's Bereavement Coordinator, whose passion and dedication continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of grieving children throughout our community through Camp Hope and our Friend to Friend program.
“Whether we have five children or 50, we focus on each child and allow them to express their emotions alongside other children experiencing similar losses, while also having fun,” said Brandy Strickland, Children's Bereavement Coordinator for Hospice of the Valley. “Every child matters. Learning how to cope with grief early in life can have a positive impact on their emotional development and overall well-being.”
