Did you know Georgia is now the top state in the U.S. for data center construction? This influx of massive, power-hungry facilities are causing serious problems across our state, from the air, water, and noise pollution they bring to the impact they're having on our electric grid. That's why we're calling for a statewide moratorium on data center construction until our state leaders and regulators can address these issues. Learn more at the link below.

The National Park Service (NPS) has proposed two land swaps on Cumberland Island that would allow wealthy private landowners to build massive homes, despite the mandate to keep Cumberland Island National Seashore primitive. Use the link below to learn how to send a message to the NPS and tell them to protect Cumberland Island! Act by Oct. 16!

Participate in our citizen science event to help us find where wildlife are most often being hit on roads🦌

On your drive to work, to a vacation spot for Fall break, or even to the grocery store, you can join us on our mission to reconnect wildlife to the habitats they have been cut off from due to busy roads.

Even if you just track one animal, it can make a huge impact. Scan the QR code to get involved.

⭐Remember to stay safe on the road and to not use the app while you are driving!

Every year, Sierra Club grades U.S. utilities on their progress toward transitioning toward clean energy in our annual "Dirty Truth" report. Once again, Georgia Power received an F. They are overwhelmingly failing to transition to cheaper, more reliable clean energy.

As a result, our power bills are going up, and our communities are facing more pollution. Read the full report: https://www.sierraclub.org/coal/dirty-truth

Our Wildlands Committee has been busy advocating for Roadless Rule protections ahead of the upcoming October 6 public comment deadline.

Last weekend, the Wildlands Committee co-hosted a Roadless Rule & Brews postcard writing event with Georgia ForestWatch at the beautiful mountainside NoFo Brew Co Cleveland Brewery. Yesterday 20 enthusiastic students with KSU's Adopt-A-Stream learned about the benefits of roadless areas to local watersheds and took advocacy actions for the Roadless Rule!

Next week, Wildlands Chair Dani Purvis will meet with the offices of Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Senator Jon Ossoff to hand deliver postcards from residents all over Georgia advocating for the Roadless Rule. Contact their offices today (202-224-3121) and tell them to co-sponsor S.2042 Roadless Area Conservation Act, which would codify the Roadless Rule into law.

Join us! You can take action at the link in below to help protect the Roadless Rule and keep our National Forests wild.
