It was another banner year for Barrels and Boxes of Love! The community rallied to donate more than 35,000 items for the second year in a row. The top company - and winner of this year's Golden Barrel - was Indorama Ventures Xylenes and PTA (IVXP) with 8,607 items raised! The silver barrel went to Ascend with 4,843 and the bronze barrel was claimed by Beltline Church of Christ Youth Group with 4,770 items. The youth group also packaged more than 24,300 items for Decatur City and Morgan County Schools backpack programs that will provide 15 meals and 12 snacks for students over spring break. Other donations went to Salvation Army of Decatur and the Committee on Church Cooperation. The BOL committee is also looking at support for other local feeding programs in the area so stay tuned! Thank you to students from Austin High and Eva Jr. High Ambassadors. Your help was greatly appreciated. And thanks to IVXP's Donna Sawyer who chaired this year's event AND knocked it out of the park with her company's collection effort. Thanks to Beltline Church of Christ for hosting. And to all those who came out to volunteer last Friday.
