Cassie Ruiz will provide support for programming and education related to water quality, data collection, data management, advocacy, and public health communication. She is entering her fourth year at Emory University as a dual degree student at Candler School of Theology - Emory University and Rollins School of Public Health. She has a particular interest in the health of local waterways and public health education in religious contexts.

The primary runoff for Public Service Commission (PSC) District 5 is happening now. The PSC makes decisions that directly affect energy bills, air quality, and Georgia's clean energy future.

We're grateful to Science for Georgia Inc, Dogwood Alliance, Center for Black Women's Wellness, Inc and Center for Sustainable Communities - Atlanta for a wonderful EJ conference last week!

GIPL's South Georgia Organizer, Tykivious Grier presented about the importance of bringing people into relationships to create lasting change. It was wonderful to share our work and to see what other organizers are doing to protect our sacred home.

This week, our Organizing Team carried Georgia's voices straight to Capitol Hill.

We met with Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock, Rep. Hank Johnson Jr, and five other offices to talk coal ash, clean water, and the SSE4 pipeline threatening Black Belt communities. We celebrated homegrown solar from Qcells North America and named the harm the biomass, wood pellet industry brings to South Georgians.

We hand-delivered your postcards, including artwork and stories from children in Georgia, and invited every office to join us this Summer of Advocacy. Know that your voices are reaching Washington! ✊🏽

This summer, we're tracing the path of power across Georgia — how it's made, how it's priced, and how it's felt.
