The Amphibian Foundation is a non-profit dedicated to the conservation of amphibians and promoting awareness of the global amphibian declines. "525,600 insects..."

Well, not quite that many. Still, AF's Invertebrate Lab currently provides 5,804 insects three times a week to our resident amphibian and reptile ambassadors! After a hectic summer season, our staff and volunteers officially finished setting up this section of our new educational facility in Legacy Park with established workflows and operations--and an updated Pull List (a bit gruesome if you are a bug).

Although this resident is captive-bred and located at our educational facility in Decatur, GA, members of Genus Typhlonectes are native to the Amazon Basin and other freshwater hotspots in South America! Like its wild counterparts, however, this individual is fully aquatic!

A shrieking-good !

In addition to making a startling call (we've spared your ears for this post), Smoky Jungle Frogs (Leptodactylus pentadactylus) are voracious hunters, taking down lizards, other frogs, and even Seba's Short-tailed Bats (Carollia perspicillata) in addition to tasty Central and South American invertebrates!
