The WSOY Community Food Drive is back, and schools across Macon County have an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact in the fight against hunger—while also competing for big rewards! Thanks to our generous community partners, the top five schools that raise the most food and dollars will win cash prizes. And thanks to the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation, this year’s prizes have been doubled with the top school winning $5000! Last year’s competition was fierce, with a tie for first place between St. Teresa High School and St. Patrick’s School—each taking home $5,000. Mt. Zion High School, Holy Family, and Our Lady of Lourdes also landed in the top five. Who will take the prizes this year?

THANK YOU Decatur Community for your continued support and service! Over 1,000 volunteers checked-in with us for the five two-hour packing sessions held over September 18-20 here in Decatur.

Together, you are providing 681 children with a meal a day for an entire year!

We still have a little ground to cover to ensure the cost of every meal we packed is taken care of - you can still DONATE and show your support (even if you didn't get to pack with us).

The FMSC team is here and setup is underway. We can't wait to welcome you for the 6:00 PM packing session. (Thank you to our setup volunteers!)

Volunteers should enter through the East doors of St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Decatur, IL) and go to the check in area upon arrival. Please come 15-20 minutes before the session begins so we can start on time.

TODAY IS THE DAY! The team is almost here and we're ready to make a world of difference in the lives of children and families in just two hours of our time.

The MobilePack BEGINS this afternoon (9/18) with SETUP from 3:00-5:00 PM - Volunteers are needed and we encourage you to consider helping. Join us at our host site - St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Decatur, IL) by 3:00 PM today.

Our first packing session is 6:00-8:00 PM - spaces are still available. You can register to pack and check-in on site.

Be sure to ARRIVE at least 15-20 MINUTES PRIOR to the session time to ensure we can check you in and start on time. Please wear closed toed shoes and leave jewelry and valuables at home. Please use the East entrance to the building (parking is available on that side).

You've been tremendous in helping us make progress toward our $73K GOAL to cover the cost of the 248,000+ MEALS we will pack this weekend.

We have just over $30K left to raise - if every volunteer in every session donated just $29 to cover the cost of 100 MEALS, we will achieve this goal by the end of Saturday.

IMPACT GLOBALLY AND SUPPORT LOCALLY

The work we'll do through the Feed My Starving Children Decatur Community MobilePack is our way to help reach the places of this world where food is incredibly scarce and hunger is abundant. MannaPack meals bring hope for a future and life-sustaining meals to days-empty bellies. This is one place where Central Illinois soybean crops become the main protein source, and we have a chance to make a connection with children and families in countries we may never step foot in.

But with that, we have local needs and concerns too - families right here in Macon County that rely on the services and sustenance provided by the nonprofit organizations in our area. They need our support too and you can do your part through the annual WSOY Community Food Drive happening on October 3rd. Donate food or monetary support to help this event make an impact right here at home.

There are many ways you can give to the WSOY Community Food Drive. Text WSOY to 26989, Venmo or Donate Online at WSOYFoodDrive.com. You can also drop off your donation during the WSOY Community Food Drive on October 3rd at the Kroger on Route 36 in the Airport Plaza. Help us fill our local food pantries in Decatur and Macon County.
