Sur Legal Collaborative Sur Legal Collaborative (Sur) is an immigrant & worker rights non-profit organization based in ATL Hello Facebook,

Welcome to our page!

Sur Legal Collaborative (SUR) is an immigrant and worker rights non-profit organization based in Atlanta, Georgia. We provide education and legal support to communities, grassroots groups, and legal advocates to promote an end to (1) labor abuses against workers; (2) ICE detention and illegal deportations; and (3) the prison industrial complex and the police state. Founded by attorneys with expert

ise in immigration, appellate, and labor law, Sur uses legal tools to support movements and campaigns led by immigrants and workers. Immigrants in Georgia face some of the harshest immigration policies, toughest immigration courts, and worst detention centers in the country. Furthermore, immigrants are among the most vulnerable workers in the country, often working in hazardous industries run by unethical employers. Covid has exacerbated and exposed many of these issues, but federal oversight has declined. Though imperfect, labor laws can empower immigrant and low-income workers to overcome the culture of fear and gain access to the rights and justice to which they are entitled.

Hola Facebook,

Bienvenidos a nuestra pagina!

Join us June 28th for a special community screening of the film Without Shade, Without Rest at ! 🎬

📆 Sunday, June 28th
⏰ Beginning at 5pm
📍 , 1083 Austin Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307
🎟️ Free entry

“Without Shade, Without Rest” looks at extreme heat and the lack of protections for outdoor workers, told through the lived experiences of workers and organizers in Florida. The film is grounded in observation and conversation, and is designed to be experienced collectively and followed by dialogue.

We are glad to support the fight for heat standards that help protect all workers from heat stress regardless of their immigration status. On farms, in kitchens, at construction sites, and in any environment where extreme heat is present, workers are fainting and suffering from inadequate water, rest, and shade. This is the time to stand up for our shared humanity and safety—people’s lives are at stake.

This film was created by a small independent nonprofit documentary team, , based in Florida. Their work focuses on climate, labor, migration, and is grounded in long-term relationships and on-the-ground reporting. Their team comes out of investigative journalism and nonfiction media, with experience working alongside outlets such as FRONTLINE, ProPublica, and The New York Times. At this community screening, we’ll be joined by the incredible and .

We are so grateful and glad to be supporting the work of groups like and to make sure all workers—regardless of their immigration status or language background—are aware and empowered to keep themselves and their coworkers protected from extreme heat.

Mandatory breaks, shade, and water are factors that all workers should be guaranteed, and these conditions can be the difference between a safe and unsafe workplace. In industries like construction, restaurants, agriculture, and so many more, the battle for safeguards against extreme heat continues 🧑‍🌾👷🔥

Thank you for the invitation to participate in their incredible zine fest that brought together community-based organizations who fight for justice and a better future in the Atlanta area!

Our Bilingual Worker Rights Organizer Lucia joined to table and share our critical Know Your Rights materials! We shared resources on your rights if law enforcement knocks at the door of your home, and Lucia also provided information on how workplaces and workers can prepare to be safe in the event of a workplace ICE raid or I-9 Audit.

Today, April 28th, is Workers’ Memorial Day. On this global day of remembrance and action, we grieve those we’ve lost—and we organize so fewer families and communities have to endure preventable workplace tragedy.

Today, we launch the Worker Leaders Solidarity Fund, an ongoing fund that sustains our worker-facing, worker-led organizing—especially through our Worker Advisory Committee (WAC). Our WAC is composed of survivors of the 2021 nitrogen leak at a poultry processing plant in Gainesville, Georgia.

Since the leak, these worker leaders have continued to guide education and organizing—often at personal risk, including intimidation and threats related to immigration status. We believe worker leadership must be respected, resourced, and not exploited.

Your contribution to the Worker Leaders Solidarity fund helps make this possible. Find the link to learn more in our bio 💜🎗️

The Dirty Dozen 2026 is here! 📢

12 Companies.
Countless risks.
One clear message: workers deserve better ✊

This annual report exposes employers that failed to protect their workers from preventable harm. We join today at their press release at 2PM (ET).

One worker dies every 104 minutes…this is unacceptable and reflects a broader issue of danger that especially the most vulnerable workers face.

Join us and a powerful coalition of organizations, unions, and community leaders coming together with to stand up for immigrant workers in Georgia ✊

Immigrant hands build our cities, harvest our food, and keep Georgia moving. Yet too often, immigrant workers are met with silence instead of dignity.

This May Day, we rise for workers’ rights, immigrant protections, and fair wages. We show up not just in solidarity, but also celebrating worker power 👩‍🏭👷🧑‍🌾👩‍🔧

During a time where support is all the more important and resources are increasingly scarce, we’re launching a new series, “Supporter Spotlight,” to uplift the many creative ways in which our community shows up.

Instead of despair, we’re turning to action and reminding each other that we can all play a role in making a better, safer world for immigrant workers. Check out more creative ways our supporters have dedicated their time and impressive works of art to making our work at the intersection of labor and immigration right possible at this Artivist section on our website! https://www.surlegal.org/artivism

COMMUNITY ALERT: ICE PRESENCE AT GEORGIA AIRPORTS 🚨📢

We are sharing urgent information with our immigrant community and allies: Reports indicate that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents are being deployed to U.S. airports, including Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. While the presence of ICE agents is purported to focus on supporting TSA, ICE agents can still perform immigration duties. This is a vital time to keep your community informed and remember your legal rights.
