Mothballs, Sulphur, and all of the other snake repellent gimmicks you have heard of that are sold simply DO NOT WORK!!!!
In the past, I bought them and tried them out with live snakes and they had no effect at all on repelling snakes.
Some of these products are harmful to pets and the environment and should not be used around your home. There are reports as recently as today where a pet ate mothballs put out to repel snakes, and that pet with expert veterinary care, isn’t expected to make it.
Please listen up, snakes are on the move right now. They are searching for water and a cool place to regulate their body temperature. Just because you see a snake on your property, doesn’t mean you have a snake problem. It means one crossed your property searching for food and or water.
Keep your grass cut low and make sure you do not have anything a snake can get under to stay cool. Avoid piles of debris or brush and believe it or not, keep under your bird feeder clean. Fallen seeds attract mice, which attract snakes.
No one is immune from having a snake from time to time. However, there are steps we can take to make our homes less desirable for them to stay. The thing I want you to remember is the gimmicks out there to buy, are just gimmicks. Don’t waste your time and money on them.
