Otters, no romp tonight. Come on up to Taste of Dearborn, Peace Park West for great food, Oh!CDC performing live and Soccer (football) on an enormous screen! We are still looking for volunteers for lawn cutting Saturday!

Otters, we have a list of three seniors who need help with their lawn. I'm thinking this Saturday? Can I get a few Otters and their lawnmowers/trimmers etc. Say,10am?

Just a reminder, IF you have any worn or tattered flags, and you would like them properly disposed of, please just drop them off at my house, 21536 Garrison St. on the porch in a bag and I will take them up to the City of Dearborn's Flag Ceremony, Sunday. Or you are welcome to take them up yourself! RESPECT.

As visitors gathered by the exhibit, a mother otter proudly carried her newborn pup to the glass, giving everyone a close-up look at the tiny baby. The crowd was instantly captivated.

Then came the father.

Instead of presenting another pup, he arrived holding his prized possession — a smooth rock he seemed just as proud of. The contrast was priceless: Mom showing off the baby, Dad showing off the rock.

Great meeting last night! Here’s some highlights:

Our Euchre Tournament was a success! Thanks to everyone who participated, and a very special thank you to our champion Jessica Sheeler who donated all her winnings back to the Otters! We will plan on repeating another tournament in the fall.

Our second Adopt-A-Park cleanup day will take place Sunday June 28 at 10am at Thomas A. Edison Park on West Elmdale Street. There will be lawn bags and water provided, volunteers should bring leaf rakes and regular rakes. We gave away the 10 Adopt-A-Park T-shirts last night,
plan on wearing those on that day. Cleanup typically takes about an hour.

The “Sleeping Mat” program, organized by Kathy Svec is moving along nicely. Kathy brought up a completed sample (photos attached) and it was amazing! Soft, full and waterproof! We are hoping to produce many of these before October so we can take them to shelters along with personal care packages. We can still use lots of clean, used plastic grocery bags! Gather them up and bring them to our next meeting.

A proposition was made and was voted on to donate funds to the River Rouge Animal Shelter and DAWG (Detroit Animal Welfare Group). Both animal shelters are running short of funds. Both organizations will receive healthy checks this coming week.

We had several other charitable ideas put forward and Chairpersons were named.
Capuchin Soup Kitchen Day of Service – Megan Marie
Leon’s Pre Thanksgiving Day of Service – Sharon Dulmage
Goodfellows Day of Service – Darryl Bartlett
Dearborn Homecoming Allstars Day of Service – Sharon Dulmage
These chairpersons will gather information about these service days and will report back to us at our next meeting.

Lastly, don’t forget that our Tom Bierman Memorial Golf Outing takes place September 19. We still need LOTS of players, LOTS of hole sponsors, and lots of help on the course. If you own or know of a local business who would like to sponsor a hole, have them contact me at [email protected] for all the details.

Our next meeting (Romp) will take place on Wednesday, June 24.
