“I left school so my siblings could continue their education.”

After losing both of his parents in a car accident at just nine years old, Ali suddenly became responsible for supporting his entire family - including his younger brother and twin sisters. He put aside his own dreams and worked wherever he could to provide for them.

Through Al-Ayn’s comprehensive care program, Ali and his family received monthly financial support, clothing, and ongoing assistance that helped ease the burden they were carrying alone.

Later, Ali joined one of Al-Ayn’s vocational training workshops, where he chose to train in barbering. Over 35 days, he learned practical skills, received transport and meal support, and was able to begin working shortly after completing the program.

Today, 16-year-old Ali dreams of opening his own barbershop.

“The first thing I will do when my business succeeds,” he says, “is sponsor an orphaned child.”

Al-Ayn USA's 20th Anniversary Celebration Dinners in Houston, Michigan, and New York were filled with gratitude, community, and meaningful dialogue.

At two of our events, a special panel shone a light on the hidden crisis facing orphaned children: mental health. In regions where stigma runs deep, Al-Ayn is on the ground - proactively identifying struggles and connecting children with the care they need and deserve.

Twenty years of serving the whole child. Thank you for making it possible. 💙

She achieved an incredible 97% in her final school exams. But despite her hard work, it still was not enough to secure a place in medical school.

After losing her father in a car accident, she struggled immensely with grief and trauma. Yet through every challenge, she held onto one dream: to become a doctor, just as her father had always hoped she would.

After her family was enrolled into Al-Ayn’s comprehensive care program, she received ongoing educational support as part of the foundation’s program for high-achieving students.

But when she was not accepted into medical school despite her outstanding grades, the disappointment became overwhelming.

That is when Al-Ayn stepped in once again - securing her a place at a private medical university and helping contribute towards her tuition fees.

Speaking about the day she enrolled, she said: “It was the happiest day of my life. I saw the graduating students and imagined myself standing in their place one day; becoming a doctor, supporting my family, and sponsoring orphaned children through Al-Ayn just as they supported me.”

Today, she continues taking steady steps towards her dream. This is the power of your support. To make a donation visit al-ayn.org

More than 120 Sadaqa Jariya projects in Iraq have been completed by Al-Ayn - each carefully shaped around real needs identified through field studies and on-the-ground assessments.

These projects span housing, healthcare, psychological rehabilitation, vocational empowerment, and sustainable income-generating initiatives that help support orphaned children and their families for generations.

By investing in lasting solutions rather than temporary relief, these projects are helping create greater stability, stronger care systems, and a more secure future for vulnerable families.
